My dad’s dealing with a wound and some inflammation in his groin area. At the hospital, they dressed it with something that looks a bit like an oversized feminine pad, but with adhesive strips running around the edges—roughly 6 x 8 or 10 inches. It’s basically a thick layer of sterile gauze with a self-adhesive border.
The hospital staff told us they don't supply them, and honestly, they seemed clueless about what it's actually called or where to find it. I’ve already hit up two local pharmacies and even checked the hospital supply shop, but nothing. We need this for his regular dressing changes, and I haven't been able to find a single thing online either.
Has anyone ever come across a dressing like this? Any idea where I can actually track this down?

Just the good old Band-Aids and some gauze?

And for heaven's sake, could you please put a title in the subject line? Is this an emergency? 🙄

Check out 3M, Smith & Nephew, Mepilex, Aquacel, ...you know, just see if any of those hydrocolloid or alginate dressings are what you need, since companies like Coloplast, Johnson & Johnson, and 3M have basically a whole warehouse full of them out there.

If it turns out one of those is the right fit, you can pretty much get almost anything covered by Medicare through your primary care doctor, assuming they actually know their stuff. If they seem a bit lost on it, just give them a little nudge and point them in the right direction.

First off, jadesailor14, I wasn't asking for your opinion on my grammar. If you’ve got nothing intelligent to contribute, feel free to just sit this one out instead of getting all worked up over the slang I use... (And yeah, maybe "sit this one out" isn't textbook English, but it gets the point across, and if I want to talk like a normal person, I will!)

Scott Allen10: Thanks. We actually stopped by the GP because we need him to sign off on some referrals, but honestly, why bother? Some doctors act like they can't read their own lab results, or they won't even suggest something that doesn't require a prescription. I don't mind spending the money, but I'd rather just get things done.
I'll do some digging online to see what these companies offer, and if I'm lucky, I'll hit up a few local pharmacies tomorrow to see if they have anything in stock.
