How to edit scanned text?

I need some assistance here.🙏
I’ve run into a massive headache. My computer died, and unfortunately, the USB drive containing all my document backups went down with it. I have hard copies of everything, so I could scan them back in, but standard scanning won't let me actually edit the files (in Microsoft Word) once they are digitized. This is critical because these documents require a light revision every six months just to stay current. Since we are talking about a mountain of text, retyping everything from scratch would be an absolute nightmare... Is there any software capable of converting scanned images (like JPEGs or GIFs) directly into Microsoft Word format?

but I was wondering, what exactly went wrong with your computer? Is it possible the hard drive is still functioning perfectly fine, or perhaps there's a chance the USB port might still be salvageable if we look at it the right way...

what actually died on your PC? maybe the hard drive is still fine, and there might be a chance to save the USB too...

Unfortunately, nothing can be saved because something burned out...........I can't recall the exact name..........it was already covered during the diagnostic report..........and👎

The only way everything could be completely fried is if a literal lightning bolt hit the thing. Otherwise, there’d have to be some trace left on the hard drive or the flash drive. Sounds like you got taken for a ride by a pretty lousy technician... especially since you aren't exactly a tech expert yourself. He probably thought he could just spin you a tall tale. Did he try to pitch you a "repair service" for extra cash too?

That lightning theory... I guess it isn't entirely impossible, but as for a repair..........he told me there's nothing that can be done..........even two friends of mine who actually know their way around tech said the same thing.........but being the stubborn Thomas that I am, I went looking for a second opinion..........only to get the exact same answer.........👎
