Well, here we go. I went to pick up my new contact lenses, only to be met with a total curveball. You might still be able to track them down somewhere else for now, but finding another box of these is going to be a real nightmare...

Alright ladies, so just to be totally clear—the verdict is that I SHOULDN'T toss the lenses I 'washed' in the Complete, right?

Michelle Kelly76 said:I actually just switched over to Acuvue, but honestly, they are just so expensive! I was seriously considering making the jump to Bausch + Lomb instead. From what I gather, Johnson & Johnson doesn't even carry monthly disposables anymore...😢

As for that second point, I really haven't a clue...

Look, if you check out www.lensway.com, there are so many other contact lens brands listed... I'm dying to know if anyone here has tried anything outside of the usual Bausch + Lomb or Johnson & Johnson options?

On a side note: I read somewhere that Johnson & Johnson specifically recommends using their own Complete solution for their lenses, claiming it's the absolute best pairing for them... Now, I can't help but wonder—is there some sort of secret corporate partnership happening behind the scenes to make those ads look so perfect, or is there actual scientific truth to the claim?

Laura Barnes54 said:Alright ladies, so am I reading this correctly? Is the verdict that I should NOT throw away the lenses I already "washed" in the Complete solution?

Well, if I were in your shoes, I certainly wouldn't toss them out just yet... especially if they’re relatively new! I would just make sure to give them a very thorough rinse in a different solution before wearing them again.
I honestly believe the lenses themselves aren't the issue here—it's strictly about the solution used.

I am fairly certain I saw those specific lenses available for order on Lensway and Optica Online too...

I actually don't think the lenses themselves are the problem—it's really just about the solution.

Mine are Bausch & Lomb lenses. They’re starting to feel pretty uncomfortable on my eyes, but I can't exactly run out and grab a new pair tomorrow.

Lensway hasn't bothered to update their website in what feels like two centuries. Even the packaging has looked different for at least two years now. Just take a look at these photos and tell me I'm not crazy:

versus the old version they have on Lensway here.

Well, if you ask me, you can usually walk into any decent eye doctor's office and pick up a new supply right then and there. Most places keep them in stock, unless you have some really "out there" prescription or a specific base curve that isn't standard.
In my experience, during my very first exam at an optometrist in Seattle, they were able to hand me my new Acuvue lenses immediately! I had mentally braced myself for a long wait—I was fully prepared to sit around for at least two weeks waiting for an order to arrive...

My eyes have been super red lately, so I honestly thought I was dealing with some kind of allergy. Turns out, my Complete solution, my contacts, and the case all just went straight into the trash. I guess we'll see what happens now...

Oh, goodness... honestly, I am completely lost now.
Have you checked any other major US optical retailers online? Is there anything "interesting" listed from Johnson & Johnson?
By the way—have you noticed how some Johnson & Johnson products are packaged in sets of 3 lenses ??????? I find that so baffling! Why would anyone sell just three lenses? (What, is it like... a spare button for a shirt...?)

Please, do keep us posted on any changes... I am genuinely curious to see how this unfolds!

Rebecca Myers38 said:I'm getting ready to try contact lenses for the first time soon. I was thinking about going with some monthly Johnson & Johnson ones. Is it true they don't really make those anymore? 😲 I guess these bi-weekly ones are a little pricey. 😠

They’re expensive as hell, I guess, but they really are great.

Honestly... man... after spending years dealing with monthly and quarterly disposables compared to these bi-weeklies, those old quarterly ones feel like trying to shove bricks into my eyes. I don't think I could ever get them back in there again...

Has anyone actually given O2Optix by Ciba a shot? They look pretty promising... I’m seriously considering picking them up. Maybe I should give them a try?

Yeah, take this one for example. Nobody seems to know what's actually going on there, even though they're dirt cheap. $50.

Michelle Kelly76 said:Exactly, look at these for instance. Honestly, who even knows what's actually in them? And they are incredibly cheap, too. $50.

I’m seeing these contact lenses for the very first time... though I must say, that claim of having 73 % water content sounds quite tempting!.....

Everyone seems to hate B&L, but honestly? They work fine for me. I haven't even bothered trying anything else... just sticking with my Optima quarterly lenses from B&L and they feel great. Like, zero sensation. Sometimes I’ll be tucked into bed at night and realize I forgot to take them out and actually have to get back up.

Kate Cox2 said:Anyone messed around with those O2Optix from Ciba Vision?? They look decent... maybe give 'em a shot??

I'm on Air Optix, also from Ciba Vision, so I'm guessing O2Optix are basically the same deal or close enough. Bottom line, they're a solid choice. 👍

I’ve been wearing contacts for over a decade now, and honestly, I’ve never dealt with an infection or anything. But still, all this drama surrounding Complete has me feeling a bit uneasy since I’ve relied on their different solutions for ages. I don't know—I'll probably just head to the drugstore and grab whatever they recommend first. At the end of the day, it's likely all the same stuff anyway, and if I start getting paranoid, I'll probably start questioning every other brand too. I'm just crossing my fingers that I won't be the unlucky one who ends up having a bad reaction. 🙂As far as my lenses go, I use Acuvue Advance with hydraclear from Johnson & Johnson (bi-weekly lenses) following various annual, quarterly, and monthly checkups, which are a total pain.
