Man, I’m still feeling absolutely wrecked from yesterday... 😁

Happy Mondays - For me, the only thing remotely fun was watching that one addict; everyone else just seemed totally checked out...

New York Dolls - I caught about 20 minutes of them at the start. I was right in the front row screaming my head off like a little girl... 😳

Sonic Youth - They were easily my favorite band from day one. Solid setlist and honestly, they blew my expectations out of the water... 😍

Asian Dub Foundation - I lost my mind during their set; they were freaking awesome... 🙏

!!! - Nothing special for me there.

Iggy & The Stooges - Iggy Pop absolutely killed it, and Mike Watt was shredding on bass. It was a blast until I almost got crushed by the crowd trying to storm the stage... 😁

The organization was a total joke. I spent an hour just waiting to grab something to eat... 😠

I was acting all tough, pretending I wasn't feeling anything after all that jumping—but now my neck and shoulders are absolutely killing me from headbanging at Yadnus, and I think I've even run a fever 🙂 😍 👋

A buddy gave me the perfect description for the keyboard guy: "basically a mix between Fulir and Zvonak from those old cartoons" 😁 🙏

One simply must get all of this organized properly.
You grumpy old souls really ought to remember the days of the Black Panthers.😠

I am not entirely certain what I am doing here, but I suppose I should share my impressions on the forum:

The first day was characterized by subpar sound quality across both stages, and I would rather not even comment on the drink lines; we were all bracing for the worst until an angel appeared out of the darkness carrying a bundle of napkins.

Dolls were decent, despite the terrible audio. As for the eclectic programming... well, it was fine, though I could only tolerate that vocalist for perhaps ten minutes. I believe she was accompanied by another woman? Sonic Youth was truly excellent, even for my somewhat unrefined tastes. However, one wonders what that woman seeks when she has already exerted herself so much, mastering bass techniques with such an irritatingly excessive flourish, reminiscent of some aging folk performer in a never-before-seen Sarah Kane play. Is Lee Ranaldo perhaps feeling a bit awkward? Perhaps Thurston could have a quiet word with her.

Hold Steady delivered what might be considered the concert of the year. I have a certain affinity for geeks who act cool while playing harmonies in thirds; I find it quite easy to relate to. Finn stood there shouting at us in the front row without a microphone, insisting that one ought to remain positive. I have taken this advice very seriously. I shall endeavor to comply.

Asian Dub Foundation... well. I saw a man in town today selling watches on the street corner who bore a slight resemblance to their drummer. 😬

I went to see them simply because everyone else did, and even a local music critic mentioned they were good. In truth, the twenty minutes I managed to endure were quite interesting. Eventually, the pumping bass became somewhat bothersome, as if I were trapped inside a disco record, so I departed.

As for the Stooges... I am reading the comments and I am somewhat confused. Did we attend two different concerts? I suppose the new material is poor, Iggy looks remarkably like Anthony Kiedis' father, and Asheton seems weary. But the performance? They played through the whole Funhouse set—loudly and perhaps a bit too fast. Iggy sang beautifully, and Mike Watt looked as though he were preparing to bomb a bridge with his bass guitar. TV Eye, 1970, and Wannya Be Your Dog with Mackay 🙏 were, for me, the highlight of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival alongside Hold Steady; a very pleasant surprise. If I have already accepted the reality of watching a band that is a century old, things could not have gone better...

Oh, and this morning, I saw an Antifa supporter driving a Golf with a bracelet on his wrist. He didn't even notice it was there, yet you indie types seem to make such a fuss over those little things.🙂

Yeah. 😍

Right, there was actually a girl with Kebra back in the day too—can't be bothered to dig through my old stuff, but I think her name was Tamara. And yeah, she used to help out... 😬 with both the sound and the whole visual vibe.

I’m backing everything Moose said about day two, mostly because my health and work drama kept me from making it to the first day.

Iggy was basically a parody of everything we’ve ever heard about him—a brilliant garage rock hustle—but honestly, he was charming as hell. (It’s not even surprising that some self-proclaimed rock critic over at AT&T doesn't get it. 👎 )
Trying to reprise IWBYD with a half-deaf MacKay just can't help but be endearing... 😘 especially when he dragged a bunch of kids onstage to try and distract everyone from Brother Ashton being absolutely wasted. 🤣 And Mike Watt—the kind of guy who actually plays with his soul—is living proof that when it comes to "playing for heaven while ignoring the playbook," he’s the exception that proves the rule. 🙏

I couldn't stomach that grunge-folk guy with the dreadlocks like I did back in the day when he actually killed it. If the vibe isn't there, it's just not there.

But the real MVP of the festival was DJ Eddy 🙏 who, during a solid 45-minute set, completely stole Peterson's thunder. 🤣 👍 GP just stood off to the side blowing smoke, and then was frankly terrible—way, way below his usual reputation. 👎

!!! Man, they absolutely crushed it. Seriously, they just tore the house down. I walked in there without any massive expectations, honestly, because their stuff never really struck me as anything life-changing before, but holy crap... wow. 😍 😍 I didn't stop jumping for even a single second. Honestly, I think I actually caused more kidney damage to the girl standing next to me than I intended. Then, I just grabbed the bartender in a huge hug and yelled directly into his ear that I love him. 😍 I absolutely love how Nic dances. It’s unreal. And that Black lady? She was easily the highlight of the whole night when she stormed into the crowd just to ask if anyone had some Duvet on them. 🤣

Best live band ever. Period. 🙏

I used to absolutely love Sonikjut aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa—they were just pure genius, though I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. Honestly, I actually got a little misty-eyed when they started playing "Do You Believe in Rapture." 😳
I haven't watched The Hold Steady since the very beginning, but man, those guys were actually pretty charming and funny—even if they were pretty much hammered most of the time. 😍

Honestly, most of the other acts just didn't hit the mark for me. The Mandreys were straight-up boring, though I will say ADF was pretty solid. As for Roísin? Total letdown. She really should have worn a bra. 🙄 Or at least wear an opaque shirt if she’s really going to go without a bra. 🙄

I honestly didn't have the patience to stand in those endless lines just to grab some vouchers, so I decided to skip the drinks altogether. Instead, we ended up befriending this one girl working security who was actually sweet enough to hand us a bottle of wine. She’s got a heart of gold. She even hooked us up with a Happy Mondays setlist. 🙂

I'm ready. Send over the text you need me to rework. I'll make sure it sounds like an actual person—not some bot—while keeping that specific, gritty, ranty vibe you asked for. Just remember: everything stays strictly in the US, all names get swapped per your list, and I won't touch a single word of the "no translation" rule. Lay it on me.

Monday
To be fair, if you’re just there to stare at Superhiks zijev Roísin’s outfit—and hey, I'm not judging—you might find something to smile about, regardless of what anyone else says. But the music? Honestly, pretty dull. After waiting in line for an hour and twenty minutes, listening to Sonikjut aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa was just... meh. And Franko the gay? Boring. The Gustafi lasted all of three seconds before I decided to head home—it took me a solid hour to get back, though.

Tuesday
Utorak nemati gemište pička materin majka par it ajd viva gloriti. Seriously, the lyrics were so mindless, unless they were actually calling someone out, I guess. The Hold Steady made me smile, but man, give me some actual substance—where's the real stuff?! I won't say anything more, really; I didn't even bother watching Iggy. As for Peterson, whatever. And the Canadian group was just tedious; I didn't even bother listening to "Orkestar" on the taxi ride home.

I dropped my phone by the riverwalk on my way home, and now some woman who found it actually called me. That’s incredibly sweet. I’m meeting up with her later, and honestly, I’m gonna have to kiss her on the mouth just to say thanks.

So, what did she call you when you lost your phone?

Why the lies?
Is it just because you want to look cool or something?

Alright, so...

The lineup was solid—actually, pretty damn good.

Happy Mondays—meh, nothing special, but honestly just because they were actually playing well. I was kind of expecting total mayhem, chaos, a complete meltdown, maybe even Sean tripping over everything... I don't know, I guess I wanted a disaster.😬

SY—superb, but if you're asking if I fell on my ass and will be talking about this for years, the answer is no. I still think Kim Gordon should be taken out, but at least they realized she can't play and brought in a legit bassist who actually knows his stuff... If only they could just tape her mouth shut, man, then we'd really be talking...🙂

NYD—showed up, heard Janis Joplin, and called it a day.

The Hold Steady—the absolute highlight. It was the ultimate feel-good experience; the kind where even if I showed up feeling like absolute garbage, after seeing them, I’d want to take on the world. I haven't seen that much charm or genuine joy in what people do in a long time... Plus, the sound quality was top-notch... Honestly, I'd drop $67 just to see them again.🙏

!!!—total trash. Absolute garbage.

Iggy—I'm with Moose on this one. Every time you start thinking, "Eh, maybe it's not that great," you just remember when this stuff was recorded and how old they actually are. To be honest, I thought it would be way more intense, but it was actually just perfectly fine.

Reminds me of a buddy of mine. 🤣 Some Chinese guy jacked up his prices $1.75 and lost his mind instantly. He went looking for a BBQ joint that wasn't even open, ended up eating a sandwich, and just kept bitching about how there was no more "gemist" and how annoying ADF is. Honestly, I love listening to people whine—guess I owe them that much since I spend half my life doing the same.😍

(Utopian) did someone actually happen to find a woman's denim jacket?
