I asked on the Verizon Coachella forum if certain artists would be performing, and they nuked my post twice! It’s obvious that what was posted on that artist's MySpace blog is the truth. If they weren't trying to hide something, they would have just clarified the situation instead of deleting my comments... I've heard some pretty nasty things about that producer, and the worst part is that he doesn't even pay young performers. That’s exactly what kills the music scene. Huge stars get treated like royalty while the local up-and-coming talent at a massive festival—one backed by huge sponsors and expensive tickets—is left fighting for scraps... 🙄
They deleted my post again! There must be some kind of reason for this...
I managed to copy him... 👍
Did you guys just ignore me and delete my post? Is it because I said something you didn't like? Are you moderators just as biased as the rest of you...
Now you've finally proven yourselves guilty, because if you weren't, you would have actually responded to this post to prove otherwise...
Alright, here we go again. Go ahead and delete this or ban me if you want, but I’m just relaying exactly what was posted on her MySpace...
I was absolutely floored when I got the invite to play at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival with Verizon. It was such an honor, and honestly, I just couldn't say no... I made sure everything stayed strictly professional, too. I coordinated directly with my booking agent and manager to handle all the logistics, because I wasn't about to let anyone overlook me or my performance... The prep work started immediately. We went all out on everything from the stage banners to self-promotion, and I even took over the PR duties for the festival myself to ensure we hit the right notes... I tried to pull together a killer lineup for my set—some incredible people I wanted as guests, including a brilliant producer and friend who’s signed to major labels in England, plus a talented synth player... But after trying to coordinate everyone's schedules, I decided to scale back. It doesn't matter, though. I'll make it work however I can...text:
A few months back, I was invited to perform at a major festival here in the States—the Verizon festival...
I accepted the invitation with everything I had; performing at a show like that was truly an honor...
I made sure to handle this with total professionalism. I reached out to my manager and the executive producer at my booking agency to coordinate the logistics for my set, ensuring everything was handled properly so nobody could question my credibility...
The planning was already underway... everything from designing the banners to all the self-promotion, with my own girl handling the PR for the festival...
I was putting together a crew to guest on the set—including an incredible producer and close friend on synths, plus two talented girls handling the intro with their own artistic performance. I just wanted to pull everyone together out of pure passion to really level up the entire production...
People are driving in from out of town just for rehearsals, burning through thousands on long-distance calls, and rearranging their entire lives just to make sure everything is perfect for the big day...
Even when I was completely broke, I made the call to borrow some cash just to pick up a high-end processor. I needed to sharpen my vocal setup and give everything that richer, more polished sound for the show...
I’ve been working around the clock with my designer to hammer out the artwork, and I went ahead and paid upfront again to make sure the production hits a truly professional level. I should probably mention that she absolutely crushes it... just take a look at her portfolio under my top friends...
Things have taken a bizarre turn... I went from being told absolutely no one on my guest list was getting in, to now being told I can't even bring my own crew. What the hell is going on?...
So, where do we go from here...?
I tried to pull some strings to get that group through the door, but I eventually just stepped back... It doesn't really matter anyway, as long as what we can achieve is doable. The paycheck is solid, and we'll make it through regardless...
That’s just how the industry works around here... screw the opening acts; they're only there to act as filler until the real headliners take the stage...
About a week ago, while I was rushing over to my DJ's place for rehearsals...
Was it May 27th? I think so. I received my first phone call from the executive producer, and honestly, between his total confusion and our massive misunderstanding regarding my performance fee, it's clear just how much went wrong...
It’s like... you were never even supposed to get paid in the first place...
Even after trying to explain that his way just wasn't feasible and everything was already set in stone, I still held onto the hope that we could find some common ground... like, can we just meet halfway for once?...
What's the point...
I recently had the opportunity to represent Verizon at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Given how the contract evolved regarding my after-show set in the tent, I felt a natural obligation to show up... so, why not perform on the Verizon stage? What a fool I was...
Then came the total SHOCK!
My booker forwards me an email from the executive producer where he doesn't just accept my rate, but actually claims there aren't any issues regarding ME!
What the hell just happened?!
What actually happened???????????????
I am completely underwater financially, and I have a moral obligation to split some of this money with my guest performers. They sacrificed so much just to join me on this set, and the bare minimum I can do is cover their travel costs. I... I'm sorry. We are all getting screwed over here...
The last few days have been pure hell. The executive producer has been dodging my booker's calls and emails, then ringing me directly thinking I'd just settle for less...
Make no mistake—blame lies squarely with the executive producer for breaking our agreement. With everything I know about myself, I have to say this has been the most humiliating, disorganized mess I've ever seen, especially for the "lesser" bands, as he puts it!
It was crystal clear that my management and booking agency weren't being taken seriously at all...
And why wouldn't they be? Is it because I'm not a massive star? Because I'm not worth the paycheck? Or just because I'm an underground act?
Throughout my entire career, we've toured everywhere just for the sake of the music!
We've dealt with venues paying us months late because they were short on cash or fighting with club owners. But none of that... absolutely none of it compares to what I'm dealing with right now!
Just imagine... you finally get hold of the cold, hard facts, and someone still tries to gaslight you into thinking you're wrong. You know exactly what I mean!
I don't know how this ends... but it's an undeniable fact that this man has no business organizing an event of this scale!
He has zero conscience, and to top it off, he still has the audacity to try and pin my supposed mistakes on me!
Where?!
Oh, right... I'm just a "minor act" trying to collect what I'm owed!
I want to use this space to thank my inner circle... they are my family, and I'm so grateful for their incredible support during these insane moments!
