They deleted my post on their forum again... All I did was ask if unknown would be performing and pasted what she wrote on her blog...

I think I’m done with this! I can't stand seeing people pocket massive amounts of cash while treating young artists like fools! I heard rain is expected today and tomorrow too... You'll have to trek from the subway to the festival in a downpour...

All in all, I'm disgusted by this festival 😕

A few months ago, I was invited to a great festival in the US—the Verizon Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

With all my being, I accepted the invitation because I felt honored and happy to perform at such a show...

Taking the matter seriously and professionally, I contacted the executive producer through my booker and manager to proceed with the planning of my show so that in no case would I not be taken seriously!

The planning began... from banners to self-promotion and my own Kaly handling the P.R. for the festival...

Organizing a group of people to be my guests on the show: an amazing producer and friend, plus Sleepgolfer playing the synth, having two amazing girls completing the INTRO with their own artistic performance, and getting a bunch of people involved just for the love of it because I wanted to upgrade the whole show...

So... I had people driving in from another city for rehearsals, spending thousands on phone calls, and adjusting their schedules for that amazing day!

At one point, even though I was short on cash, I decided to borrow money to buy a good processor for my vocals to make the performance even more interesting and "sound richer" for the show!

Worked 24/7 with my designer doing the artwork, paying upfront again to elevate the show to a professional level! May I remind you this girl kicks ass... check her work on my top friends!

Somehow things started turning weird... from a flat-out "no" regarding my guests on the guest list, to not even being allowed to have my crew with me... wtf?

So what's next?

After trying to get those people in, I pulled back... it doesn't matter, whatever is doable is fine. The money is decent enough and we'll pull through.

That’s just how the industry works here... forget the smaller acts; they're basically just placeholders until the headliners arrive.

About a week ago (while I was racing over to my DJ's place for rehearsals)

Was it May 27th? I think so. I got a sudden phone call from the executive producer, Mr. Gmaz, sounding completely flustered. It made me realize there had been some massive misunderstanding regarding the performance fee for my set.
As if... they were implying I was never actually supposed to be paid at all.

Even after I made it clear that wasn't an option and tried to settle the arrangements, I still hoped we could find common ground... maybe meet halfway, you know?

But why?

Recently, I had the opportunity to represent Nokia at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Because of that partnership and the contract involving my after-party set in the tent, I felt it was only right to show up... so I figured, why not play the Nokia stage? What a joke...

Then came the shock.

My booker forwards me an email from Mr. Gmaz where he doesn't just agree to my fee, but actually claims there was never any issue with me personally!

What the hell just happened?!
What actually happened???????????????

I'm stretched thin financially, and I feel a moral obligation to share some of this with my guests. They sacrificed a lot just to be here with me, and the least I can do is cover their travel. I'm sorry... we've all been screwed over.

The last few days have been pure hell. Mr. Gmaz has been dodging my booker's emails and calls, then calling me directly, hoping I'd just cave and accept less.

Without a shadow of a doubt, and placing the blame squarely on the event's executive producer for breaking our agreement, I have to say this has been the most humiliating, poorly managed disaster for "lesser" acts—as he so kindly puts it.

My agency and management weren't taken seriously for a single second...

And why not? Is it because I'm not a superstar? Because I don't deserve a paycheck? Or just because I'm part of the underground?

Throughout my entire career, we've played everywhere just for the sake of the music.

We've dealt with venues paying us months late because they were short on cash or fighting with club owners... but none of that even comes close to what I'm dealing with right now.

Just imagine... when you're staring at the facts and someone still tries to gaslight you into thinking you're wrong. You know the feeling.

I don't know how this ends... but it's obvious this man has no business organizing an event of this scale.

He has no conscience, and he actually has the nerve to act like I'm the one who messed up.

Where did I mess up?

Oh, right... I'm just a "minor act" trying to get paid.

I want to use this post to thank my crew... they're my family. Thank you for standing by me during this absolute madness.

I honestly think they might... I suspect the folks over at Verizon completely overlooked the weather forecast and failed to provide any cover for the performers against the rain 😉
As for the crowd, that’s a whole different story 😳

Cave isn't slated for 10, or at least he should be by then... there's still enough time to settle the nerves before he hits the stage 🙂

Are they actually going to issue refunds? This is an absolute disaster...
