Big 80s band, but they just never clicked for me—I’ve always been more into the heavier stuff.
Guns N' Roses, Skid Row, Hanoi Rocks, Pantera, Iron Maiden

But honestly? After picking up the original DVD and the Tokyo DVD, I totally changed my mind. They're a massive band, in every sense of the word.

Tyler has an incredible voice, and Joe Perry has always been in my top 10 favorite guitarists.

I mean, Aerosmith is such a great band, and there are definitely those moments where their music just hits you right in the gut, you know? But I guess they aren't quite on that legendary, untouchable level for everyone, though I suppose at the end of the day, it really just comes down to personal taste. 😉

Just kidding, they have way better tracks than that one ballad. Honestly, I think Steven Tayler has more stage presence than Mick Jagger. They’re good enough, sure, but Guns N' Roses still takes the win for me.

They’ve always seemed kind of overlooked here, stuck in the shadow of other hard rock giants. I haven't sat through every single one of their albums, though I know all the hits. Personally, I actually dig that pop-metal phase they had back in the 80s—they had that more polished sound then, leaning closer to Bon Jovi or Poison than to AC/DC or their own raw stuff from the 70s. I have a feeling one of those 70s records will end up being my favorite, though. Tyler and Joe Perry are solid performers, pretty decent vocalist and guitarist, and that chemistry between them has always been the backbone of the band. I was planning on heading to New York City in June, but honestly, I just can't swing the cost right now. I'm hoping someone posts some concert reports in this thread. I caught that last concert they released from Japan last year, and I gotta say, they still absolutely kill it live.

I was in New York City... The concert was great; honestly, I was surprised by how tight everything sounded. Joe Perry is fantastic! All in all, it was a total spectacle. Usually, I prefer when the focus stays strictly on the music without overdoing the stage show, but with them, it didn't bother me at all. That’s just who they are. For my taste, though, it was way too short—maybe two hours or even a little less... Just like The Rolling Stones. You end up missing songs you actually want to hear because you can't fit everything into a two-hour set. If I had to pick a highlight, it would be Dream On... almost perfect! 🙂

The crowd was surprisingly lukewarm for New York City; I’m used to them being incredibly loud and energetic... Not here. Way too much filming and Facebook... ☕ Even Tyler joked during the encore, "What, that's it?" after the crowd barely made a sound once the main set ended. 🤷 It seems to me that those predictable encores kind of ruin the vibe of live shows lately; people know the band is coming back out, so they don't even bother making noise...
The opening acts were solid.

The organization was a disaster. I don't know which band would have to play at that venue (Las Vegas Convention Center) for me to ever go back there. Too many people, a handful of bathrooms and bars, and the subway station is under renovation, so you have to take some bus from the last open stop that just circles around five times before finally dropping you off... After the show, we spent about 40 minutes trekking to the bus, and we didn't even hit the highway for an hour... Terrible. Even at Giants Stadium, you have to wait to exit the parking lot, but at least you get to the bus relatively quickly, rather than walking in a line for 40 minutes. 🙄

Has Hamilton made a comeback yet? And did that concert end up being a total sell-out?

From what I heard, the show wasn't even sold out.

I first stumbled onto Aerosmith way back when they used to play "Dream On" on one of those old-school music channels. Fast forward a bit, and I ended up totally obsessed after playing 😁 Guitar Hero : Aerosmith. I’ve got their whole discography saved on my laptop, and even though I haven't sat through every single track yet, what I have heard is more than enough to justify calling them "The Greatest American rock band." Steven is a total legend, but man, Joe Perry is the absolute king—his playing is straight-up addictive 🙂

It would be awesome to catch them live. I haven't spent a ton of time spinning their stuff, but everything I have heard is solid. They’re one of those bands that feels way more massive here in the States than they do everywhere else in the world—kind of like how KISS or Van Halen are perceived. Just a classic example of an American powerhouse.

Not many bands have managed to tank their own reputation quite like they did. You mention 70s hard rock or blues rock to any younger fan today, and they’ll probably lump Aerosmith in with Bon Jovi or Bryan Adams before they even think of mentioning AC / DC, Led Zeppelin, or The Rolling Stones.

But man, those early albums? They are absolutely killer.
