Eye in the Mist Documentary screening tonight: a film by Nin and Jadranka Pongrac looking back at the American underground scene from the late '80s and early '90s. It’s got some rare footage of Majka and Satan, plus interviews with people who were actually there during the first Bombing of New York. Runs about 30 minutes.

The irony is palpable—being underwater while positioned right on Riverside Drive (though if I really think about it, 😳)

There was a massive brawl go down there around 1:30 AM this past Friday. Just a huge crowd of thugs who completely cleared out Papillon.

Personally, it’s one of my favorite clubs—the vibe is usually killer—but I can’t shake the feeling that there are always two conflicting energies clashing there:

you've got the total peacemakers who are friendly and open, but then there's ALWAYS that small group of two or three agitators who just wreck the whole damn concept.

At first, I thought it was just bad luck, but after witnessing way too many back-to-back incidents lately, I don't think anything about this is accidental anymore.

Like, ten days ago, some guy was practically begging for trouble, dancing the lambada on stage so aggressively it was actually painful to watch. There wasn't an ounce of subtlety in it—just pure aggression meant to disrupt everything.

Those who "know," know what I'm talking about.
