So, here’s the deal 😢 I actually tried explaining why I chose this handle for my blog once before.
It’s kind of a joint effort—my husband, who’s way more tech-savvy than me, helped me pick it out while I was still a total newbie.😕
I get that the name sounds pretty dark😲 but after spending three months hunting for a diagnosis, I’m honestly thinking about changing it.😉
What do you guys think about "Synovia Sarcoma"??
I’m not being edgy or anything; the name is tied to the illness I'm fighting right now.🙂 🙂 But I truly believe I’m going to beat this thing.👍

It was a joint decision between my husband, who knows his way around tech, and me, since I'm just a beginner.😕
I realize the handle sounds morbid😲 but after spending three months searching for a diagnosis, I am considering changing it.😉

I'm not joking; the name is tied to the illness I'm currently fighting🙂 🙂 and I truly believe I can beat it.👍

Of course you will win...😁 😘 🙄

nimblestag31, those values look more like the onset of hyperosmolar syndrome rather than diabetes itself. It’s likely hyperglycemia without a formal diagnosis, so an oral glucose tolerance test is definitely necessary.
A quick question for nimblestag31 regarding the topic: shouldn't your generation be studying from the 11th edition of Guyton? 😁

Well, what am I supposed to do now if all my blood work comes back at 6.2? (I usually keep an eye on my iron levels, but this keeps showing up too, even though they always tell me it isn't necessarily low.) I suppose... is that actually considered normal?

If nobody’s flagged this as weird yet, then I guess it’s totally normal, right?

Have you ever actually done an OGTT? Or just a standard "blood sugar panel"? (The first one is way more thorough.)
Anthony put it perfectly 👍

So, uhm... anyway. 🙄
When we started physiology last year, there wasn't even a hint that an 11th edition was coming—and honestly, I guess there's barely any difference between the 9th and 10th editions anyway, aside from that ugly red font they used in the 10th.
So, I ended up going with a much cheaper option—saved a few hundred bucks, I guess! 🙂
I wonder if they actually updated the glucose levels in the 11th—I guess I'll check once I have it in my hands. 😁

Charles Edwards8, I'm so sorry that's the reason behind your username—I really hope you get a quick win over Mr. Charles Edwards8 soon! 😉
It’s gotta go ASAP—I guess—maybe even sooner. 😉

You're right; there are minor adjustments that make it more expensive, but it includes a chapter on obesity and other nuances. I have the new edition in a PDF, so if you want to look over certain sections, I can email them to you...
Charles Edwards8: nope, not doc, yet, still got a year or two... 😁

Good luck, Sam Hall15! You’ve seriously got that natural instinct for being an amazing clinician. Honestly, whatever specialty you end up picking, you're gonna crush it if you keep this up.👍

Just wanted to drop a quick note—I actually got a chance to test my blood sugar today since my neighbor is diabetic and let me use their monitor. It clocked in at 5.1.🙂🙂.
So, I was reading up on this, and apparently adrenaline can spike your glucose levels... is it possible mine shot up because of the rush? I was running late to the hospital that morning and ended up sprinting like crazy—definitely put some strain on me!

Sam Hall15, you're absolutely right, that's entirely possible... No need to worry too much, but it might be wise to keep an eye on your diet and weight down the road. While your blood sugar is spiking like this, it's probably best not to take any unnecessary risks. Don't let it get you down though, you're doing just fine, buddy...
sarkom: you honestly made my day... I can't thank you enough for such an unexpected compliment.
