Allergic to belt buckles?

Every single belt with a metal buckle that touches my bare skin even a tiny bit triggers a rash and leaves me incredibly itchy. I haven't been able to find a belt with a genuine sterling silver buckle anywhere, and honestly, who knows how much a custom one would even run me? So, what’s the move here? Should I try some kind of ointment? Maybe coat the buckle in something? What? (It’s way too hot for undershirts, if that was anyone's first thought).

maybe try wearing an undershirt, skip the belt, and just tuck a little scrap of fabric over the buckle

Grab some clear spray paint—you can go with either a glossy or matte finish depending on what you're feeling!
Just apply a few thin coats to get it smooth.

I've heard from a few DIY enthusiasts that it really does the trick.

It works perfectly fine until you strip the varnish, then you just slap on a fresh coat and keep rolling 🙂

So far, I’ve only messed around with belt buckles—you know, those cheap metal ones on canvas belts—and some buttons on my jeans that kept giving me an allergic reaction. It’s working so far 👍

Honestly, I’ve never bought into that whole colorless lacquer trick. You can try slapping some duct tape over it if you really want, but let’s be real—it doesn't do much and it's a total pain in the neck to deal with. In my experience, the only thing that actually works is just slathering a thick layer of ointment on that patch of skin every single time before I put on my belt buckle or anything else with nickel in it.

Clear spray paint? Where am I even supposed to find that? At a hardware store or something? Because I really don't want to try fixing a belt buckle with nail polish.

I've mostly just dealt with the issue by wearing my belt sideways. 😁

Neither lotions, sprays, nor even gold or silver seem to do the trick.😁 I can't wear any of it! 😢 Even jeans are out if they have a metal button.

I stick to plastic bracelets and only wear belts in the winter over two layers of clothing.
A few attempts at wearing a belt ended with a rash stretching from my navel to my chest—which peaked with blisters the next day 🙂—followed by three days of steroid injections and feeling absolutely miserable.😁
I always carry some pills and a custom cream made at the pharmacy—I don't recall the name, but it works wonders.😍

I’ve actually started wearing these tight gymnastics-style bodysuits just to stay sane, you know what I mean? It keeps my kidneys covered so I don't flare up, because honestly, even the buttons on my jeans trigger an allergic reaction, and since I'm completely out of any kind of ointment, I can't exactly rub anything on it 🙂)
