DOMINANCE β€” basically peaking right when it counts (like during the Super Bowl, an SP, or chasing a title). You go all out, crush everyone in your path, and take what's yours.

KAIZEN β€” constant improvement. It’s that concept about never stopping the grind to get better at everything you do. You see it everywhere in American business culture. When something new hits the scene, you check if it fits your long-term goals. If it does, you pivot completely and overhaul your whole setup:
1) you decide if it's worth the hassle, and if it is, you scrap the old way and start fresh
2) if the payoff isn't huge, you just stick to your guns and maybe cherry-pick a few useful bits from the new method.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

I’ve got an idea for a poll:

Should we legally ban ruggedfalcon2 from accessing a computer or trolling these forumsβ€”you know, purely for his own reintegration back into society? I mean, once someone crosses that 8,000-post threshold, there's really no coming back...

Hey everyoneβ€”just getting back from my annual vacation! πŸ‘

Hey crewβ€”just got back from vacation πŸ‘

Yo man! πŸ‘

As for ruggedfalcon2, though... he's unstoppable. Like a force of nature. 😬

Good to see you back... maybe this place will actually start feeling alive again now that you're around. Does this mean placidbison20 is heading back soon too?
P.S. regarding what ruggedfalcon2 said, I’m on the same page as Jamie Fowler2.

It’s honestly good to be back in the mix with you guys πŸ™‚. Looks like nothing has changed around hereβ€”wanderingridge is still out there hunting for some kind of proof that strikers are just total losers, the Winchester crew is still flooding us mere mortals with five or six pages of daily nonsense we can't even follow, and placidbison20 keeps popping up every other minute with those threatening notifications 😎

But man, you really missed the mark there. Look, I respect stand-up fighting just as much as I respect grappling, truly I do, but I’d argue that trying to separate them is like trying to run a race with one leg tied behind your back. 😬

look, if he had a massive titanium prosthetic instead of that missing leg, he'd learn some respect real quick...😬

And just wait until that same prosthetic hits him! 😲

Nah, that's not what I meant. A brace alone doesn't make you a ninja.

I'm definitely satisfiedβ€”but you hit the nail on the head by calling this a basic question, because the subject is actually quite complex, and the nuances are endless.
I have to say, I’ve spent time training in aikido, jiu-jitsu, taekwondo, and pretty much everything else under the sun! Right now, I'm focused on karate and I am loving itβ€”the instructor is truly top-tier, a recognized 6th-degree black belt who constantly pushes us to be creative, which is absolutely vital in martial arts. Not to ramble too long, but I really believe in exploring different disciplines before finally settling down into one specific style and dojo; it broadens your horizons and positively impacts almost every aspect of who we are as people.
Regardless, it was a fantastic question and a great topic to dive into. Kudos to you!

Right now, I am focusing on Karate, and honestly, I couldn't be happier. My instructor is truly top-tierβ€”a legitimate 6th-degree black belt who constantly pushes us to think creatively. That kind of ingenuity is absolutely vital in martial arts. To be blunt, I believe you need to wander around and try different disciplines before you finally settle down in a specific style or a permanent dojo. Exploring different paths broadens your perspective. It really does have a positive impact on every aspect of who you are as a person.
Regardless, it’s a genuinely great question and a solid topic to dive into. Kudos on bringing this up.

Where do you train karate?
Maybe check with Sensei Nicholas?

So he’s actually the one claiming you don't need a heavy bag if you've just got a wall to hit? 😁

Actually, no. Nicholas is just a younger colleague of Mike. That was his own statement.

He’s the only true old-school master from San Diego.
