Which printer should I get?

I'm looking to get into printing some photos, and obviously, I want them to look as sharp and vibrant as possible. Should I be looking at investing in a higher-end inkjet printer, or would a budget-friendly color laser be the better move here? Also, what are we talking in terms of pricing for color laser printers if the main goal is high-quality photo printing?

Honestly, laser printers just haven't caught up to the quality you get from a dedicated photo printer paired with actual premium photo paper.
