Classic North American Rock Hits

The Ramones were easily one of the most influential bands out there, but man, they were just incredible.
Then you’ve got the rest of the heavy hitters: The Cure, Paraf (with Valter Kocijančić), Talking Heads, The B-52's, New Order, Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac (with Bebek), Riblji čorba, and time.
Even Idoli had maybe two or three absolute bangers.

I don't know why, but I just can't stand Fleetwood Mac (except maybe "Đurđevdan")...
They lean too much toward country-pop, especially those later albums. Not my thing...😛
But man, I love Riblji čorba. I wouldn't say they're the most influential, but their frontman definitely holds the world record for "who can go longest without a shower or deodorant." Seriously, anyone who's seen him in person—gross.😲 😁
Bruce Springsteen is great, too. Their lyrics are top-tier...🙏

Everyone's got their own thing, I guess, but I’ve never really been much of a fan of idol. Every now and then I'll put on something like The Police or Kenozoik, but honestly, The Ramones and The Cure are just in a league of their own for me.

If we're talking about who actually influenced the scene, you can't leave out Buldožer.

Bruce Springsteen! His commentary on the state of the world still hits just as hard today—it’s wild how kids who weren't even a thought back when Bruce was tearing it up are still listening to him. And honestly, J. B. Š. has stayed just as true to himself through it all.
When it comes to pure skill, Leb and Sol are untouchable—Fleetwood Mac was basically a movement for paradise, and man, huge props to The Cure.

Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bruce Springsteen, COD, Tesko industrija ...

Look, let’s get one thing straight—you can joke about Galija, Kerber, or leptir all you want, but what does Smak even have to do with this conversation???
They’re easily one of the best bands from the old era by pretty much any metric, not to mention how they're worshipped in certain circles for that classic white-blues sound...

Their biggest hit, and definitely their most famous track, "crn dama," is my absolute favorite. That vocal performance just gives you chills.

But then again, to the 90% of the masses who have heard of Kerber, they're considered trash, whereas I think they're excellent. It was quite a struggle for me to track down two of their best-of collections.

Between the migrations and everything else, there's just so much history there.

How is it that nobody has brought up Zabraniti pušenje yet?!? Between Hađija and the rest, Pišonja and Žuga, Fikret... those tracks like Dok čekaš sabah za šejtanom and srce luke lopata🙂 were absolutely killer alongside New Order and Bruce Springsteen. To me, they were the best band from that era.

I remember one year our whole crew headed down to Miami for a summer trip. We drank like absolute animals and spent the entire time singing Pišonju and Žugu.

"Dok čekaš sabah za šejtanom" is easily one of my top 3 albums from the entire American scene. Those arrangements and that rhythm section... just irreplaceable...🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

Usually, I’ll tell anyone who listens that even though there are tons of bands I dig, my personal holy trinity consists of idol, Smak, and Čorba... those are the ones that really hit home.

I don't exactly worship Kerber, even if ratni igra super pjesma is a killer track, and I actually think Galija is pretty great. "Burna pijana noć" 🙏 is honestly one of the best things to ever come out of the old scene...

And finally, one more 👍 to mention: Laboratorij zvuk is easily one of my all-time favorites.

I’ve got a few Journey concerts on DVD along with their entire discography, so I can send them over to Elizabeth Mendoza43. They're one of my all-time favorites. As for The End, some people claim Black Lady was their biggest hit, but I’m not buying it. What about Daria, Chicago Blues, Entering the Harem, or Biska 13?
