Though, honestly, if they ever did a reunion show—maybe at a Blues in the Park festival or playing some Chicago Blues—I bet those tracks would get the loudest standing ovation of the night. But let's be real, they weren't "hits" in the traditional sense compared to those three...

I actually have that record at my place. There was a time when a friend and I were absolutely obsessed with them. We’d spend all day singing their songs—much to the annoyance of everyone else around us. I’d belt out stuff like: "I am a true Don, Don Juan" 😬 then "up the ladder, up the ladder, up and down..." and "Extinguish the Light"... and so on.

But my favorite lyric has to be: "You'll walk down my street, and toss a bitten apple into my trash can... but you won't even realize what you've done to me... Barbara, Barbara." 🙏 😬

👍 if you're trying to get a handle on the discography from that American Simon & Garfunkel cover band. Though, honestly, my personal go-to is always the title track, Extinguish the Light. That one used to be the anthem at all the house parties back in the day...

I've got that album too, and honestly? That one track is the only thing worth listening to... 😢 Everything else is just totally forgettable. It's not even good enough to be bad, if that makes sense.

I saw them live in Indianapolis over twenty years ago—the whole damn crowd was just chanting at the guitarist: "Peder! Peder!" 🤣

They threatened to shut the whole concert down a few times—seriously—but they ended up pulling it off anyway. 🙏

New Year's—another year down the drain, honestly. Just one more cycle of the same old nonsense.
And now they're coming...

Damn, that song was such a massive hit—I really should've made it to the concert. ☕

If you weren't at that New Wave revival show at The Factory about four years ago, you seriously missed out. They were the absolute stars of the night... even if Vule was completely wasted.

Look, that Du Du A album has its moments, and I’d give it a passing grade if I had to, but the issue is it’s stuck on the same cassette as Dr. Spira and Human Beings, so I usually just fast-forward right past it to get back to Spira... 🙂

When Skripac played that show at The Factory, they absolutely crushed it—hands down one of the best parties I’ve ever been to. I went in thinking I’d only know maybe three or four songs, but then they started playing, and the whole crowd was singing along to everything. The band was having a blast on stage, the crowd was losing it down below... just pure magic. Their studio albums feel a bit cold and too polished (not that they aren't solid, especially O and that Mini LP from New Year's), but live? They’re a much better band in person.

Ehm, Vule was actually in New York City that night, and the band was just streaming the show on their phones. You’re definitely thinking of Delca. It was basically just Delca and some pushups, but they had this specific deal with the promoters to only release stuff In Skripac, so that's why they put that name on the posters...

In Skripac, they absolutely crushed that concert at The Factory. It was easily one of the best, most high-energy shows I've ever been to. The energy was unreal; the band was having a blast on stage and the crowd was just dancing and vibing right along with them. Total magic. Their studio albums feel a bit too cold and sterile sometimes (not that they aren't good, especially O je and the New Year Mini LP), but live? They are a much better band.

Du Du A definitely earns a passing grade from me. That first Year of Love recorded in Skripac is phenomenal; I make sure to play it every single year once spring rolls around. I saw them live for the first time back then, and it felt like a slightly more danceable version of Pere Ubu mixed with a wild Delc. To my ears, "O je" is great, but the rest is either stuff I haven't heard or just isn't really my thing.

I’ve never actually sat down and listened to Year of Love from start to finish, but honestly, those tracks just don't hit me quite like the stuff from their peak era. That said, you might be right about me being a bit too harsh on the albums... it’s not that they aren't good, it's just that they feel so much weaker compared to how they sound live. Take Boa, for example. To my mind, In Skripac is one of those bands that never quite managed to capture that raw, live energy on vinyl...

The guitarist looked like he walked straight out of Skripac—wearing this obnoxious yellow sweater with red polka dots, some half-drunk looking red plaid pants, and these weird white sneakers. And the girl at the party? Total mess—curly hair, an ugly red face, and covered in breakouts.
