So, this afternoon, out of nowhere, I felt like a massive "blind spot" just popped up in my left eye. My field of vision went blurry, there was this weird pressure, just total discomfort... and within minutes, it spread to both eyes. About an hour later, the spots finally cleared out, but I was stuck with this intense pain and pressure in my eyes and head that lasted for several hours.
I went in to get checked out—they looked at my anterior and posterior segments, and everything came back normal. Eye pressure is fine, too.
This is actually the second time this has happened to me... honestly, it's great that the tests aren't showing anything wrong, but I have zero clue where on earth this is coming from.
Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Any advice on what my next move should be?

I honestly saw this coming... all my test results came back perfectly fine, but I deal with low blood pressure, so... I don't know. How does it just happen like that? One minute you're okay, and the next, everything just slips away. It’s such a horrible, unsettling feeling.

So, you didn't really take any next steps? How often were you dealing with this, and when did it finally let up?

I get that stress is usually the main trigger, but still....

I wear some light prescription glasses with a bit of a cylinder correction—though, honestly, my eye doctor misdiagnosed me completely; after several years, it turns out I don't even have astigmatism! Anyway, I only need them when I'm working. This issue used to flare up maybe two or three times a year, but I haven't dealt with it at all in the last six months.
Looking back on it now, when this first started happening, my dad was incredibly sick... so, is it possible this is just stress? It feels like nowadays, "stress" is the catch-all answer for everything, and frankly, nobody has come up with a real cure for it yet.

Look, I don't want to be some doomsday prophet here,😈 but honestly, just for peace of mind, go look into this—specifically check out neurology. I've been there. I had these exact same symptoms, and my eye doctor kept trying to brush it off, telling me it was just stress, that I was working too hard, straining my eyes, and basically just needed to chill out and get more sleep. But when things went south and I couldn't see straight for days at a time, 😲 I ended up seeing a GP over in Chicago who realized it wasn't an eye issue at all, but something happening in my brain, and he sent me straight to a neurologist. After spending a month in the hospital because my vision was basically non-existent and the headaches were pure torture, an MRI finally confirmed it was Multiple Sclerosis. Don't take this as me trying to scare you or implying you have MS too... it’s just about reacting early and knowing what you're actually dealing with. I'm sure you're fine, but for your own sanity... 👍 just get checked out. Good luck.

Thanks so much.
I just walked through the door after getting a referral for a neurologist appointment tomorrow. It wasn't actually my eye doctor who suggested it; I pushed for this myself... there’s a recent MS diagnosis in my family, and the symptoms are starting to feel way too familiar. 😢
Honestly, I'm pretty terrified of what tomorrow might bring, but I'm just hoping for the best...

I feel for you, Rebecca Grant46😢... but hang in there.🙂 I mean, what else can I even say? You probably already know the deal, especially if you've dealt with this kind of stuff before. Honestly, finding out early is the one silver lining—at least that’s what people tell me, anyway. It's just a total bummer when you can't tell if they're actually being straight with you or if they're just delivering the news in the most brutal way possible...🙂

Thanks for all the support, everyone. I've decided not to get myself worked up too much before tomorrow. Besides, apparently stress can be a massive trigger for these kinds of symptoms—they can mimic an actual MS relapse and drag on for a week. Given how much stress I'm dealing with lately, I'm just chalking it up to that... 😉
I'll check back in tomorrow to let you know how things went.

Too true... stress is the big one here, and I’m pretty sure that's what's driving the whole thing.🙂 But look, with all this stuff getting pushed back, maybe it's actually a good thing that your body is flagging it. It’s basically a nudge to show us exactly where we need to dial back the pressure.🙂 For me, it was a huge wake-up call that I have to put myself and my health first. You’ve gotta learn how to say "enough is enough"🙂 and just tackle the problem head-on with a smile.🙂

Oh man, please don't scare me... I don't exactly have visible spots or anything. But I've got this really weird sensation, like I'm just not processing things the way I used to. Like, sometimes I'll stare at something and it just doesn't register. It’s like I can't truly experience it. And even when I'm looking at stuff normally, I get this nagging feeling that what I'm seeing isn't even real... it feels so distant... so surreal... 😕 It's like that static on an old TV when the antenna is acting up... like I'm seeing these little particles in the air that just block me from seeing what's actually "behind" the haze... 😕
By the way, my prescription is 1.5+, but honestly, it doesn't matter if I'm wearing my glasses or not—it stays the same. If anything, it feels even worse when I put them on, because then I get this even stronger sensation—like I'm staring at the world through a window on a television screen... 🙂

I deal with those spots quite frequently. I initially assumed they were caused by my diet, specifically lentils, and my prescription seems to increase at every eye exam. A friend suggested it might be because I have light-colored eyes and have always struggled with them, but one can never be certain.

I feel like we just have this built-in gut instinct for knowing when symptoms actually matter and when they’re just noise.

For me, once those spots started showing up, the discomfort around my eyes and forehead got pretty intense. Then the actual pain kicked in later on, which is really what sent my anxiety spiking...

I already did an initial consult with a neurologist, and now they're sending me for a full battery of neurological tests. The working diagnosis right now is just ocular migraines, but I guess we'll see what the final word is once everything settles...
