I just smashed my finger with a hammer

Hey everyone... so, I managed to smash my thumb with a hammer (long story short), and now about an eighth of my nail is turning this nasty shade of dark red from the blood pooling underneath. What’s the move here? 🙂

Is there any way to actually drain that blood without basically performing amateur surgery on my own finger, or am I just stuck waiting around for the nail to eventually fall off 🙂 ?

Look, if you’re feeling that pressure, try this: take a needle, heat the tip up with a lighter until it's glowing, and then just gently pierce the nail using slow, tiny circular motions. It shouldn't actually hurt much if you go easy on it—just be steady and careful. Once you see a little bit of blood trickle out through that tiny hole, that intense pain will finally start to subside. 😬

Use a tiny 1 mm drill bit.
Honestly, you don't even need a power drill—just spin it between your fingers.
As you get closer to the nail, slow down...
The blood should seep out with just a little pressure, and you won't lose the nail itself.
Get this done immediately, though—once the blood starts clotting, things get much harder.

I’ve got a feeling I’m already late to the party... it’s been five days now 😲. At this point, all I can really do is pull a move similar to what I did last time things went sideways—you know, like when I showed up to that Motley Crüe concert wearing nothing but my underwear 😵... I’m currently working on an article about what actually happens to your body when you smash a fingernail against something hard.

This whole thing is basically my dissertation... I’ve been running these trials for five years now, and since I couldn't find a single decent volunteer willing to step up to the plate, I figured I’d just sacrifice myself for the sake of scientific progress 😁.
The people of the future will eventually look back and actually appreciate this, because once they solve this problem, my struggle won't have been for nothing.
