Healthcare coverage in America

Good morning, everyone! 🙂
I was wondering—please excuse my ignorance here—do health insurance funds exist in the US that actually cover things, and are they worth it?
Basically, I'm just looking for a little more info regarding how health insurance works.

Just a quick tip if you're ever searching for something in American English: just switch your Google settings to American English for searching and displaying results. If you type in what you need, you'll find plenty of pages on the topic, just like this one.
