Is there a specific function within Excel that would allow me to display the final sum in a cell as written text rather than just digits?

For instance, I am building a sheet to track a breakdown of currency denominations. At the bottom, I need the grand total to be printed out in plain English, such as "eleven thousand seven hundred ninety-one dollars and thirty cents."

I am willing to trade a six-pack of Budweiser and a jar of Nutella for the solution. 😁 👍

It won't work quite how you're hoping.
You can define specific outputs, but you're limited to about seven conditions.
I'm guessing that might not make much sense, so basically, it just isn't possible. 😁

Sure, it’s doable. You could just whip up a little script in Visual Basic to convert those numbers into text and call it a day.

It shouldn't be anything too crazy. Just count the digits and write them out sequentially. There's already an established system for naming numbers; you just have to implement it.

Here’s a Visual Basic module for Excel. This is originally a Microsoft module (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/213360), though I’ve gone ahead and tweaked it for American formatting—though I suppose you might still need to mess with how it handles certain large number delimiters or specific regional settings depending on your setup.

Hopefully, this does the trick for you...
