I respect them because they don't try too hard by singing in English—it feels real—but honestly, you could probably squeeze their three albums together into one decent record.
I just keep them in my "honest misses" drawer. They have a few really solid tracks, for sure.
those first two are garbage—on the balcony

Here’s the first batch that came to mind:
Nirvana - Nevermind
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the holy
Led Zeppelin - III
Zombies - Odessey & Oracle
Boys next door - Door Door
Stephen Malkmus - Pig Lib
ATDI - Vaya EP

Why is everyone hating on "Vaya"? Personally, I think that and "The Great Orgo" are easily the best things ATDI ever put out...

That’s just what I gathered. Every time I bring up ATDI, everyone starts raving about "In Casino Out" and "Relationship of Command," while those two EPej gems just sit there in the shadows.😢

Honestly, I can't tell if that's an understatement. It feels like people either totally miss the mark—treating it like some bland, nameless record and mislabeling them as just another Smiths wannabe (at least back in the day, speaking as someone who's been around long enough to know they aren't really my cup of tea)—or they see the album as this standalone 😍 masterpiece with a massive cult following that swears by it... kind of like me.

Like Dana Anderson4 was saying...
To feels pretty much like "get lost on a deserted island" territory to me...

Hmm. I suppose I could move The Housemartins over to that other thread, but they aren't exactly huge players, and they have a few hits here and there, I guess.
That’s probably why we should just list Beautiful South under the heavy hitters instead.🤮

The Housemartins: "Flag Day" and those two other upbeat tracks... just three perfect songs and you're done. 🙂

It feels like people either completely miss the point—treating them like some R.E.M. wannabe, which is totally wrong since I was actually there during their heyday and I don't just listen to The Beatles like some casual fan—or they see this album as a standalone 😍 masterpiece with a massive cult following that treats it like gospel... myself included...
Look, I’ve got nothing against The Beatles—unless you want a fight😠 🙂
but The Housemartins were one of the most overlooked legendary bands ever.
All you need to know is that they gave us The Lumineers and arguably the greatest genius in the indie scene, Norman Cook. That alone puts them in the hall of fame.

Zachary Bishop82 said:it’s enough to just say this—the band that produced The Lumineers and arguably the greatest genius on the American scene, Norman Cook, has to be ranked among the absolute best ever
that’s a better way to put it 😈

If you ask me, this is pure auditory hell.
Is "Caravan of Love" stuck on a permanent loop in your head? Or what other songs are currently haunting you that you’d give anything to just erase from your memory right now?
It was a massive hit that really struck a chord, but man, it is a total irritant.
Join the caravan...
It's right up there with tender by Blur or R.E.M. Everybody Hurts Brrr
Brrr.
Anyway, I'm drifting off-topic again.
