Firewall settings?

I don't really have any issues running ZoneAlarm.

So, I’m curious, what kind of issues are you guys even having with ZoneAlarm? Honestly, it’s never once blocked me... and let’s be real, I’m famous for being a total pushover with user prompts, so I just tend to click through everything anyway!

But seriously, it works like a charm...

I’ve messed around with Kerio and Sygate and I don't even remember what else...

but this one is actually pretty solid... I can basically download whatever I want without a headache, and it’s super polite about it too, constantly asking me for all the permissions it needs. And if it starts getting annoying, there’s that handy "always allow" or "always block" option which you can tweak whenever you feel like it... so yeah, that's the deal...

It’s great if you just want to feel like you’ve actually secured your machine. But honestly, if that's the level of security you're aiming for, Windows XP SP2 is more than enough.

It felt like way too much hassle for me. I eventually just told myself, "Nope, this isn't going on my PC anymore." Now, I'm on the hunt for a "slightly less annoying" firewall. I want something that doesn't nag me about every tiny detail, but instead just does its job—blocking what it thinks should be blocked—and lets me go about my day without constant interruptions.

Everything is set to high on my end too... and honestly, it doesn't bug me constantly... it only really asks questions right when you're installing stuff, just for a little bit until everything settles into place, and after that, you’ve got everything handled in the Control Panel... you decide which programs get internet access and which ones don't, and yeah... that covers basically everything else...
Nowadays, it only prompts me for those specific programs where I actually left the "ask me" option checked, but for everything else? Total silence... nothing at all...

Plus, I've got the icon sitting right there in my system tray, so I can always keep an eye on my download and upload speeds... it's super convenient...
I actually really dig this thing... it feels almost as smooth as using Reevs😁

Honestly, my antivirus isn't even flagging anything... though I guess I shouldn't be surprised since it probably wouldn't recognize anyone else's software besides its own, right? I think I read somewhere that Norton actually has its own built-in protection... so maybe that's just how it works...
but then again, I'm running AVG... and like I said... nothing... absolutely zilch... yet my monitoring dashboard is showing everything is totally locked down and secured.

A Kerio? Everyone used to swear by it, yet here we are looking at a third party and not a single person has even mentioned it.

The new version is pretty buggy, honestly—what was the developer thinking? And 2.15 feels way too bloated. Even though it’s still an excellent firewall, it really needs better process startup controls and things like that, which would be super helpful when you're trying to run newer DRM-protected CDs on your PC.

Sure, every once in a while someone manages to break through and use my connection for some DDoS attack or a spam relay, but I don't lose sleep over it. In fact, I usually just ask them nicely to leave a few of their tools and scripts behind, and we all walk away happy. 😬 They never touch my actual files, and frankly, I have nothing against letting these kids earn their keep in the hacking scene. 😎

Maybe there's an upside for me too—perhaps one day I'll stumble into someone's setup and decide to gift them a hardware firewall instead. It would be a win-win situation for everyone involved! 😍
