As far as I'm concerned, his soul is just gone... sold out for a quick paycheck. People keep bringing up guys like da Silva and the other naturalized athletes, but let’s be real: there is a massive difference between da Silva and Draganja. Da Silva came here as a kid; he’s been living in the States for six years now and actually speaks the language. Draganja? He’s never even set foot in Qatar, and I highly doubt he can even read or write Arabic. If he had decided to swim for the USA—where he’s lived and trained for ages—I might have actually respected that decision. But doing it for Qatar?? To me, Muhammad Ali is just a sellout.

He’s completely lost his integrity 😁

To me, he simply sold his soul, and there’s really no other way to put it.

But I suppose this chapter will eventually close; just yesterday, the President of the International Olympic Committee made it quite clear that this kind of behavior won't be tolerated anymore.

In an ideal world, I’d love to see the IOC ban Draganja from competing in any events held under their direct supervision.

Duje has done more for this sport than most people could do in three lifetimes. Honestly, half the critics out there haven't even seen him compete in person, let alone traveled abroad to catch a meet—and let’s face it, swimming isn't exactly a mainstream obsession in most parts of the States. He’s stayed true to his roots and his faith, just like he said he would. As for all those tabloid rumors about massive corporate sponsors? There wasn't a single bank in the country that could have changed how those deals were structured. It's just empty noise used to sell papers. I heard the same old story about how people who pushed certain athletes away are now the ones trying to pull them back in. But hey, keep bowing down to the big money if that's what you want to do.

Give me a break, quietcobra30.

Are we really going to sit here and feel sorry for him?🙄

Honestly, who cares; let him choke on all that money. He actually has the nerve to talk about how much he loves America, even though America clearly doesn't want anything to do with him. What a piece of work.

Besides that, da Silva didn't just sell out for the cash...
He finally realized he’s never going to suit up for Team USA because the talent pool is just way too deep, but man, every kid starting out in soccer dreams about playing in the World Cup, and he'll be chasing that dream by putting on the American jersey...
So, there’s really nothing to talk about when it comes to a sale...
There were plenty of Americans who ended up playing for other national teams, like Belgium or Austria, and honestly, nobody ever gave them any grief for it because they didn't exactly have a choice... the US simply wasn't calling them up...

The idiot sold himself out, just like everyone else does.

Why don't you morons stop whining about players signing with foreign clubs?

Total idiots.

Alright, what's your deal? Are you his damn bodyguard or something, defending him like that?

Duje Mohammed ibn EL ZarKaki is a sellout, plain and simple. The way you're trying to defend the indefensible just proves you'd flip your script and sell your own soul the second a better offer came along.

You either have integrity or you don't. There's no middle ground.

Either way, the guy's got guts, regardless of what anyone thinks about him.
And he’ll still be my favorite over Nikolai.

And as for those people bringing up Pesalov—of course they’re all against him; it’s just how things work. It’s the same way the Qatari crowd won't say a single disparaging word about Draganja now that he’s become El Hamza.

I struggle to wrap my head around it: if Duje made this move out of some profound sense of moral fortitude, then honestly, hats off to him, because that would be true character. But let's be real—it wasn't that. He simply sold his soul, nothing more and nothing less, purely for the paycheck.

And then there's the whining about how much he regrets it. Please. The only thing he actually regrets is that the snow melted last winter, the absolute jerk.

Oh, let's all go out and shower him with sympathy instead.🙄

Who cares? Let him choke on all that money. He still has the nerve to talk trash about how much he loves America, even though America doesn't give a damn about him. Total trash.

I'm with you.

He can talk all the smack he wants now, but his track record speaks for itself. In the eyes of most people, he’ll always just be a sellout—someone with zero honor or integrity... and I'm being polite.

The guy sold his soul for a paycheck, tossed his passport aside, and jumped ship. To him, loyalty means nothing, and honestly? Fine. Long live democracy. I guess tomorrow we'll all be bowing down to dictators and wearing tablecloths as crowns. But what can you even do? Life goes on. Even Qatar won't find any real success working with people like this.

I truly feel for Mica Dusanovica; I can’t help but wonder who he’ll be forced to cover now that he’s been relegated to broadcasting from the local pool 😁

Man, it would be quite nice to have "nothing against Los Angeles" embroidered on that tablecloth. I wonder who'd foot the bill... 🙏

The guy took the money. Honestly, smart move.
What does he have left to gain from all that American pride and whatnot? Nothing. You can do a whole lot more with cash in your pocket...

What does he really care about regarding American pride or all that other nonsense? Nothing. You can do a whole lot more with a fat paycheck in your pocket...

I mean, what good is a pile of cash if you've got nowhere to call home?
though who knows, maybe he'll go win a gold at the next Olympics and a huge chunk of Americans will just look past this and start blaming the federation, Mateš, or even the government....
he'll end up looking like the victim...

Good for Duja, I guess. Honestly, he’s mostly in swimming for the romance side of things anyway, so whatever works for him.
What really gets me about this whole situation—and it's honestly pretty tragic if you think about it—is what sports has turned into. People are swapping citizenships just to chase a bigger paycheck. It's just pointless.

The part that absolutely kills me about this whole mess is how much the sport has devolved. People are jumping ship and switching nationalities just to chase a fat check. It's pathetic.

Chasing paychecks?

I mean, come on, who isn't in swimming for the money?

Nah, I'm talking about a fellow athlete.

Duje Mohammed ibn EL ZarKaki is a total sellout, and that’s just straight facts. I don't even know what kind of twisted logic you're using to defend him, but honestly, you're just proving that you'd flip on us and screw everyone over the second you saw an opportunity to save your own skin.

It all boils down to the price tag.
