yeah, totally clueless... we're basically idiots because we aren't jumping at every chance to sell ourselves for an extra few thousand bucks...
man, we could be big shots living it up in Vegas if we just took the money they're throwing around, like an extra million or whatever.
The way players like Ancic and his crew handle things is just wild... they could easily be walking away with $10 million instead of just $2 million. absolute morons.

we could've been big shots living it up in Qatar since they're willing to throw an extra million our way.
The way Ancic and his crew operate, they could be walking away with 10 million instead of just 2! Total morons.

Well, you've certainly got a point there, I guess.👍

When a young star like Kranjčar has to make the toughest decision of his life—leaving New York City behind for a cool $1.6 million payday plus a vacation home on Maui—he’s practically weeping. Poor guy, I’m truly heartbroken for him. Such a heavy burden to carry!

Seriously though, imagine working your tail off to build a career from nothing, finally hitting that elite level, and then suddenly everyone turns on you just because you want to capitalize on your success? Why is it that someone like Giriček or some other entitled jerk can do whatever they want, but when a guy like Duje tries to secure his future, he's the villain? He’s not a traitor for wanting to provide for himself and his family; he's a legend. Just keep moving forward, Duje. It's funny how people act like huge patriots while they're actually paying taxes in Monaco and driving Ferraris with foreign plates, yet they still want to claim all the glory for the home team.

but seriously, just think about it... you have someone out there grinding every single day, building a career from nothing without any handouts or help, and once they finally hit that level where they can actually make it big, suddenly everyone turns on them just because they want to earn a living??!! Why is it that some corporate suit like Giriček gets a free pass, but a guy like Duje isn't allowed the same shot!? Oh wait, I forgot, now he’s a traitor just because he wants to provide for himself and his family. DUJE IS A LEGEND, seriously, just keep moving forward when this place doesn't want you... not even the people who act like huge patriots while they dodge taxes in Monaco and drive Ferraris with foreign plates, acting all patriotic for the cameras but nowhere to be found when it counts

you're totally comparing apples to oranges

That's just how you Dujemrskis roll. Props to Duje, though... he's one of the few who actually managed to bank some serious wealth from a sport like swimming and then walked away because of it. If he were a pro football player, there’s no way he would’ve switched citizenship just to chase a few extra million, but as a swimmer, he didn't really have that luxury😳

but hey, I get it, his family would've been starving without it...🙄

So he’d basically have to settle for crumbs. Screw $5 million when you can take $50k instead! Brilliant logic there...👍

Poor Janica just settling for "crumbs"... if she had swept three gold medals for some wealthy nation she would've walked away with millions of $$$ and don't even get me started on the sponsorship deals...
poor Ivano Balić would be absolutely loaded if he played for Spain...
they'd have way more than this but hey, they still chose the crumbs...

Man, I’m seriously curious—how many of you would actually take $500,000 (though who knows if they’d even offer that much, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them) and turn down a cool $5 million? You guys are absolutely shameless, 🙄 honestly, just waiting for any excuse to jump at an opportunity. You’d probably be out there playing for Osama bin Laden himself if he offered you that kind of cash, 😁 😁

He's just speaking for himself...
Look, we aren't all just sellouts...

First time posting here, so I figured I’d jump into the conversation. People keep bringing up other athletes moving abroad, but I don't recall a single one of them being a national icon like Duje. Some folks mentioned how swimming lacks big clubs or major meets, but those specific meets were exactly how Kožulj made his living. I remember seeing him crush two autos in just a two-week span—you do the math on whether you can actually make a career out of swimming. Duje would show up to one big meet a year, and that single appearance would pay the bills for the whole season. How do I change the "just learning to write" bit under my username?

Some mentioned that swimming doesn't really have a club circuit or major meets, yet it was precisely those types of events where Kožulj made his living. I remember when he could pull in two wins in a single two-week stretch—makes you wonder if there's actually any money to be made in swimming at all. With Duje, he’d show up to one big meet a year and probably walk away with a fortune for every appearance.

Just learn how to write properly and maybe people will actually notice you.🙏 🙏 🙏

Hey, what’s the deal—look at the last word in your username. Seriously, hello, people living in a five-million-dollar world, this isn't about pocket change. If we're going to be sellouts, we might as well get paid like heavy hitters.😉 I bet you still drag yourself to your little job every single morning too.👋
