Chloe Morris12 said:Why are you being such a *****? I was just asking if most movies are based on books or not. I honestly don't see what the issue is with my question.

I live in New York City. ( 🙂 )

The issue is this—there is someone out there living in New York City who clearly knows how to use the internet, manages to churn out 5k posts on a single forum, and acts literate, yet somehow lacks the basic data on whether films are adapted from books or not. Not only that, but they think it's perfectly fine to pose such a question to others instead of using a little deduction to find the answer themselves.

It’s a problem of civilization.

Chloe Morris12 said:Or there are quite a few that exist solely because of the screenwriter.
That's what you call a writer, right? 🙂

It's called the Tooth Fairy. Here's the concept: whenever you lose a baby tooth, you shove it under your pillow at night, and by morning, you find a finished screenplay waiting there. That's how Lars von Trier came up with the idea for "kingdom".
Chloe Morris12 said:Fine, thanks. But has a book ever been written based on a movie?

Oh, absolutely. For instance, there is a mountain of Star Wars and Star Trek book series out there that were adapted from the films. All top-tier quality, obviously. Then you have books based on movies that were themselves based on video games, like Tomb Raider. Truly peak intellect. And then we have the absolute champions of adaptation: books based on movies that came from comics that came from other books, such as "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". In that case, the movie is just... well, the comic is actually a great ride.

So—you really think she’s still exhausted from yesterday—after dealing with you and those two friends of yours?

If "Sandy" were actually in the audience, she’d be looking at a massive bonus from— $17Who was that lady asking why one goes in the vagina, the other in the colon—and why they’re using margarine as lube?

Look, we were just building stuff—no one was actually out there tearing anyone down...
That's the distinction you gotta wrap your head around. 😉

Lighten up buddy 🙂

That’s a distinction you clearly need to grasp. 😉

Seeing these recent "opinion" shifts brings back this one scene from The Sopranos Season 5. You know, when Sandra King86 😉 (Tony's wife, if you haven't seen it) tries to start this little film club. A few of the mob wives gather around to watch movies from the AFI list, and after they finish, Sandra King86 attempts to kick off some high-brow discussion about Citizen Kane. It’s all very tense and serious, but nobody is actually interested... until one woman suddenly pipes up with, "Hey, did you hear that so-and-so got a boob job?" And just like that, the whole thing goes off the rails and everyone starts shouting their two cents at once. 😉 😁

Hey northerncrane4,

I think you’re definitely on the right track here, but if I could just jump in with a tiny little correction, that would be great. I honestly don't think the core issue is really about civilization itself, but more about gender dynamics. I mean, if you look at the indirect evidence, Gerald Barrett25 kind of proves my point, so I guess I should actually thank him for that this time around. 👍

Hey Chloe Morris12, regarding that question you asked, the answer is no. And hey, no worries at all! 😎

In my experience, the ending of the book always manages to outshine the movie version...

There you go—now she'll probably think *every* movie is based on a book. Even after it was clearly explained...

"Who said that back when we were just 'hooking up & making magic,' Brad and I didn't make a damn good movie?!!"

This is easily the best way to crash a thread I've ever seen... plus using Kung Fu Hustle as the actual subject matter... 🤣

To pull off an entrance like this, you really have to be what the Brits call 'wired'... honestly, it explains why lobotomies were such a hit in Anglo culture... 😉

You also need a sensitive cortex capable of firing off random electromagnetic impulses... which probably explains why they put microwaves in the kitchen in the first place 😉

On top of all that, it’s hard to stay indifferent toward certain films when the G-spot is located further south than usual... makes sense why she's so into Indian cuisine 😉

Hey, northerncrane4, if you really think that comment from Chloe Morris12 proves she can't take a joke, I guess you might want to reconsider your own sense of "literalism." 🙂

Hmm. Perhaps I should try this:

To pull off comments like that, you really have to be what the English call "wired"... I guess that’s why I'm not even surprised that lobotomies were such a favorite among the Anglo-Saxons... maybe. 😉

I mean, you also need to have a sensitive cortex that just fires off electromagnetic impulses whenever it feels like it... I guess that’s why I'm not really surprised that the microwave ended up sitting right there in the kitchen. 😉

I mean, on top of everything else, it’s kind of hard to stay indifferent toward certain movies when things get a little more provocative than usual... I guess that's probably why she's such a big fan of Indian cuisine. 😉

Chill out, Smudj. 😁

Even you don't seem to know what the point of your posts is anymore—whether you're actually attacking someone or just trying to defend them...

Look, being aggressive is one thing, but doing it like an idiot is just gross. 😉
