Does anyone have any updates regarding this area?

A few years back, I was over at the Mayo Clinic
for some hearing tests in one of their exam rooms.
The ringing isn't even interfering with my ability to hear speech yet,
but once I lie down at night and the room goes quiet, my ears start acting up quite a bit.
The doctor told me it’s permanent eardrum damage.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this?

Best,

A colleague at my office dealt with some nasty issues regarding this
He started getting severe ringing in his ears and didn't see a doctor right away... I won't go into all the details—he can't really hear out of that ear anymore
So, please be careful
Best of luck

I’ve actually got the exact same issue. I picked it up during New Year's Eve, and even though it’s been a day and a half, this ringing just won't quit. I guess it’s kind of weird that you guys are saying there's no cure, because whenever I'm at a loud club or some bar and then get home, my ears start ringing like crazy, but eventually, it just stops on its own after a bit.

Look, this is just a byproduct of how you live. People claim it’s caused by thallium buildup in your system. If you have amalgam fillings in your teeth, you really ought to swap them out for composite ones. That amalgam mix uses thallium as a hardening agent... and let me tell you, thallium is one of the most toxic heavy metals out there—it's a known carcinogen. It's strictly banned, yet here you are, basically sucking on it 24/7 like a lollipop...
It hits your nervous system first, which explains exactly why you're dealing with this. Get it pulled and you'll be fine.
No thanks needed. ☕

It can definitely have a psychological component—honestly, it mostly does. Try not to dwell on how much the ringing is bothering you; if you stop focusing on it, eventually you might stop noticing it altogether. At least, that’s how it worked for me.🙂

Does anyone else out there dealing with spine issues? Like, crooked back, constant aches, whatever you want to call it...
It’s actually pretty common for that stuff to trigger tinnitus—you know, that ringing in your ears—especially if your circulation is acting up too!
Personally, I notice the ringing dies down every single time I get my back adjusted... well, at least for a little while, anyway!!!
But honestly, I think I’ve gotten so used to the constant buzzing that it actually feels weird when my head is finally quiet for once.... 😁 😂

I've had this ringing in my ears for like 7 or 8 years now. I was just a kid when it started, honestly. I went to see some doctors back then and had a few checkups done, but everything came back totally fine, so I haven't really given it much thought since. It doesn't even bother me that much anymore, I guess. 🤷
Though, I did happen to read something in a magazine recently about it, and apparently, a ton of people deal with this stuff too...

Yeah, it can definitely be a spine or neck issue. My neck is a little misaligned, which basically chokes off the blood flow to my brain.
My first signs were this unbearable ringing—honestly couldn't tell if it was in my ears or deep in my head—plus dizziness, panic attacks, passing out, and pains at the base of my skull.
I'm doing better now, but things still go south if I spend way too much time sitting around or just idling.
Staying active and working really helps the most, though the tinnitus itself just won't quit...
You seriously can't let yourself obsess over it too much or you'll lose your damn mind, seriously.

I’ve been browsing through some of the threads on this forum... there are quite a few discussions regarding tinnitus... I guess I fall into that category too...

...I’ve been in an audiometry booth maybe two or three times before (for instance, during those military entrance exams), and my hearing seems fine... everything sounds perfectly clear to me normally...

Personally, I suspect it might be related to my spine—specifically my neck... though, of course, one can never be entirely certain...

...I’ve dealt with this for as long as I can remember... I think it first showed up when I was around 14 or 15, but again, I'm not making any definitive claims... I'm 22 now...

A person doesn't just notice it every single day (except for right now while I'm writing about it 🤣), but I would honestly love to find a way to get rid of it...

I go to concerts and live shows pretty often, so I use earplugs, but that temporary ringing from the noise goes away very quickly... this tinnitus, however, is constant... I've also noticed that when I sit at my computer for long stretches, the pitch of the ringing sometimes shifts—which is why I suspect it might be linked to a nerve in my neck or spine...

Since there apparently isn't a cure for this... I was wondering if acupuncture might actually help?

I’ve been dealing with this constant ringing in my ears for about four or five years now. At first, my doctor was convinced the issue was stemming from my left maxillary sinus, but turns out, that wasn't it at all! So, naturally, I went in for a hearing test, and sure enough, my hearing in that ear is definitely weaker than the other side.🙄I also had to go through all those scans just to rule out something terrifying like a middle ear tumor or even a brain tumor, but thankfully, thanks to the specialist mentioned above, everything came back clear.🙏The catch is, the buzzing is still there—just ringing and ringing and ringing! Honestly, I’ve become so used to it that I don't even notice it most of the time anymore; it only really grabs my attention when I focus on it or if I’m feeling some kind of pressure. It’s pretty much hit or miss depending on the day. It’s a real struggle for people like us.☕

I’ve got that ringing too. It’s been over a year now. Sometimes it’s incredibly annoying, other times I don't even notice it... my doctor says it's due to my spine and poor circulation. Though, it all actually started when I was out partying right next to some massive speakers. My first symptoms were this unbearable buzzing—not even sure if it's in my head or my ears—plus dizziness, anxiety, passing out, and pain at the base of my skull.

Wow... it’s wild how many of us are dealing with this. My ears have been ringing for two months now. I went to see an ENT specialist, and they told me it’s hearing damage in my left ear—the one that’s actually buzzing. I’ve been scouring the internet for info, but it’s always the same depressing stuff everywhere. It makes me wonder, is there really no way to fix this? 😢
I mean, sometimes it’s fine and I barely notice it, but other times I get this sharp pain in my ear. When everything goes quiet, the ringing just kills me. It's pretty hard to ignore. Am I seriously going to have to deal with this for the rest of my life...? 😢

I’m heading to the doctor tomorrow. Honestly, I can’t even tell if there’s still ringing in my ears or not—it’s become pretty subtle. But at night, either when everything is dead quiet or if I cup my hands over my ears, I can catch this faint frequency humming in the background.
I don’t know if I’m just being paranoid or if something is actually wrong, though I suspect it might be an issue since what I'm hearing feels different than it did before the concert.
It’s kind of ridiculous, though. I don't blast music, I wasn't exactly mosh pitting, and I was at this local show where I had a few drinks—so maybe I didn't realize quite how loud it was getting. I was hanging out in the back near the speakers, nowhere near the front where everyone was losing their minds and headbanging. The girl next to me was fine, and my friends aren't hearing anything, so now I'm left wondering if I'm just losing it or if I'm one of those unlucky people who actually damaged their hearing. I’m trying to stay positive, because if my doctor tells me there's actual damage, I have no idea how I'm going to take that news or stay calm.
What's weird is that I spend a lot of time lurking in medical groups and forums online, and somehow, I haven't stumbled upon a single thread about ringing or tinnitus. Not one. I've seen threads on just about everything else, but nothing on this.
That’s really the problem. If I had actually come across any discussions or seen those tinnitus ads on YouTube, I probably wouldn't have gone to a concert or exposed myself to that much noise in the first place. I would've learned from those posts and videos that tinnitus is a thing and that it's often permanent. There’s zero info out there, and at these shows, they don't even give you a warning or make sure earplugs are available for purchase.

Wicked, what’s causing your ringing? When did it start, and how did your doctor test it—was it in a soundproof booth? Did they put you on any medication or anything?

Why isn't there a sticky thread about tinnitus and ear ringing on this forum? You never see any info about it on TV, yet it’s hitting more and more young people who are constantly at concerts or clubs. I spend a fair amount of time scrolling through medical forums and groups, but I’ve never once stumbled upon a dedicated tinnitus topic. Out of all the various ailments discussed here, this one is nowhere to be found—and honestly, what are you supposed to do? If I’d actually educated myself sooner and realized what was happening, I wouldn't have walked into a loud cafe, let alone a concert, without being careful.
I think this is becoming a massive issue because there’s no cure for tinnitus. It’s a serious problem that can absolutely wreck someone's life and quality of living—we're talking depression, suicidal thoughts, and the like. Since there’s no fix for it, and it’s incredibly easy to develop in today's noisy world and loud nightlife scene, we really need a sticky or at least a sticky FAQ with helpful links. People rush to look things up when they have a random ache in their arm, but they should be able to land on something like this to get informed about something that actually matters.
To me, tinnitus feels like it's in the same league as AIDS—maybe even worse—but while there's so much attention and advertising dedicated to AIDS, there's nothing for this. And you can catch tinnitus pretty easily if you look at how many people are forced to live with it now.

Is it really too much to ask for a TV station to broadcast something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE5fIoveLoM

Seriously, something needs to be done about this instead of just letting more and more threads pop up or forcing everyone to Google "ringing in my ears" over and over.
I'm still not sure if I have mild tinnitus or some kind of actual injury—I have an appointment with an ENT soon—but I'm frustrated that nobody educated me, and I didn't educate myself. I didn't run into such a serious, growing problem. If I had, knowing how much of a horror story this can be, I would've acted smarter and avoided stupid stuff like using a plastic thread—acting like some clueless 17-year-old.
So, come on, admins, do something about this. Or at least let's get some consensus that this is a real issue that requires more awareness.
Clinics are plastered with posters about how blood circulation works, how to avoid fatty foods, or how marijuana is bad for you—but where the hell is the info on tinnitus? Why isn't that posted? One night out can turn your entire life upside down, whereas you'd practically have to smoke an entire field of marijuana to mess up your system that badly.
There isn't even a single interesting thread about tinnitus in the top topics, yet there's plenty of space for stuff about colored contact lenses.

Listen, guys, we’ve got a massive problem on our hands—there aren't enough doctors left to go around, and more and more of us are dealing with AIDS. It's getting ridiculous.
So, I just finished reading this post by some American doctor who claims he knows people—actual people—who dealt with chronic tinnitus for years and finally managed to kick it just by practicing meditation. Honestly? It sounds a bit out there, but hey, I’m going to give it a shot and see what happens. We'll see if it actually works or if it's just more fluff!
I’ve been dealing with this damn tinnitus for six years now—it started out pretty subtle one night, just a tiny thing, but then it just kept ramping up and getting louder and more intrusive by the day. It’s exhausting. I’ve gone through every single specialist under the sun, even went all the way to a high-end audio clinic in Chicago to get it checked out, and they couldn't find a single thing wrong! Nothing! Just total silence from the pros while my head is ringing constantly.
I’ve been noticing something weird lately—specifically with my right ear. You know that constant ringing? Well, it feels like the sound coming through that side isn't just louder, it’s actually... different. It’s not even that it sounds weaker, per se, it’s more like the audio is missing its fullness—like there's this hollow gap where the depth should be!
So, look, it turns out it’s actually pretty normal for everyone to hear things slightly differently in each ear—it's just one of those things, I guess. Probably nothing to worry about at all...
Look, let’s get one thing straight—if we’re talking about hearing loss, you don't necessarily need that constant, maddening ringing in your ears to qualify. I know plenty of people out there dealing with massive hearing impairment who don't have a single bit of tinnitus going on in their heads. So, yeah, let me be crystal clear: that buzzing sound isn't some mandatory requirement!
Personally, I’m convinced this whole thing is just pure stress and nerves—plain and simple. I mean, think about it: everyone deals with that constant buzzing or ringing in their head at some point, right? But a person who’s actually calm and level-headed has this sort of internal buffer—like a protective shield—that keeps those noises at bay. It's like you have this built-in insulation. But the second you start getting worked up, or life starts hitting you with high-octane stress and anxiety, that shield completely breaks down. Once that defense is gone, all those intrusive sounds just start drilling straight into your eardrum and hammering away at your auditory nerve... it's exhausting.
It’s the same old story you hear from all those Eastern "alternative medicine" gurus—all that nonsense about clearing out negative energy or fixing your "chi" points! It’s just more pseudo-scientific fluff designed to sound deep while offering zero actual substance.
I honestly think there’s something deeper going on here—something real—and I’m convinced we’re going to find a solution for it pretty soon. But it won't be some traditional pill or a standard medical fix; it’s going to come in the form of specific soundscapes or targeted frequency stimulation designed to stabilize those acoustic waves!
Alright, let's get this conversation moving—I want to hear what you guys have been going through. Let's swap stories and trade some actual experiences here. If you don't want to blast it out in the open, just hit me up privately at kuba@hi.t-com.hr.

I could really use some advice here.
I was out last night and spent quite a while standing right next to the speakers at the local concert venue.
It’s been about eight hours now, and there’s still this persistent, faint ringing in my ears; if I actually focus on it, it becomes incredibly maddening.
Does anyone know what the odds are that this will just clear up on its own??

Has anyone else dealt with this, and if so, how long did it linger?
This hasn't happened to me before, so I'll admit I'm feeling a bit panicked.

Looking back at previous posts, most people seem to be talking about their natural, baseline tinnitus, so if anyone has any actual tips, please reach out ASAP. 😢 😢

It’s most likely just temporary tinnitus triggered by acoustic trauma.
In the future, you really need to steer clear of stuff like that; once that ringing starts, it can easily become a permanent fixture.
For now, let's just hope it settles down within a day or two.
