(think Al Pacino in Scarface or Serpico).

Sold! 👍

Robert De Niro used to be absolutely incredible, but then he just started selling out his reputation, you know? He moved on to filming those random commercials for American Express and all those mindless comedies. 👎 😬

Al Pacino.

The reason why?

"My father taught me many things ... keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." 😎

One of the rare times Al Pacino actually hits the mark was Saturday night on TV—Carlito's Way.
But honestly? Sean Penn was the absolute genius here. 👍

I’ve always leaned toward Al Pacino. There’s just something about his ability to undergo these massive transformations 😎 that puts him a step ahead of Robert De Niro. He feels more convincing, more magnetic, and honestly, he’s carried much better films. It’s just how I see it...

Of course, that’s just my two cents...

Oh, and one more thing—he’s got a real soft spot for Shakespeare 😍

Neither. They're both overrated.

None of them truly belong in my top tier, yet I find myself consistently favoring Al Pacino over Robert De Niro. There is something about Pacino's ability to portray a psychological powerhouse that resonates more with me, and those are the performances I gravitate toward most...😳 🙂

Honestly, I could sign off on that too. 👍

Some actors have truly reached the heights of cinematic greatness, while others have hit rock bottom with their individual projects... 🙂

Man, you should've thrown in a poll first...

I'm leaning toward Robert De Niro myself; he just feels more convincing to me, especially back in the day in Fan...

So, what does "overrated" actually mean here?

Does it mean some group of high-brow critics all agreed that Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are brilliant actors, and you just happen to disagree... 😕

Because if you aren't buying what they're selling, why give them that much weight—as if their supposed greatness is some kind of objective truth we all have to respect? 😕

Just be straight with it next time... "I don't like them because [insert reason A] and [insert reason B]..."

Back to the actual point... Jack Nicholson 😁

Look out, because here comes Johnny Depp!!!

A total gentleman, really—but he’s definitely got a screw loose.

Between the two guys we were talking about, I’m picking Al Pacino over that idiot with the Italian last name any day.

So you're saying it's better to look like a rat than to carry a name like De Niro?

Ah, Karen—music to my ears. 😍 Damn, lady, I love the way you think. If you ever end up directing something, I’m volunteering to be the sandwich man walking around promoting the movie. 🙏 👍

Honestly, when you look at that generation of legends, Robert Duvall is easily the powerhouse for me. As for those two, I’ve always found myself leaning toward Robert De Niro just because he carries himself with a bit more grit and presence. And then there's Paul Newman—I can't quite put my finger on why, but he’s just a step above both of them in my book.

They’re both intense, but while I used to be a huge fan of Robert De Niro, Al Pacino is easily five times better now.
I love that jittery, psycho energy he brings; watching him scream feels incredibly visceral.
Even his recent films hold up—they aren't bad, though you can tell he's "acting," whereas with De Niro, that feeling has faded.
That said, Anthony Hopkins is still my absolute favorite.🙂

word up!👍

whenever I'm in a hypnosis remission, I basically start belting it out like Big Al—just get me a caipirinha or something strong...
It’d be a much better show for the crowd!

I have to admit, Al Pacino was outstanding in the masterpiece *The Devil's Advocate*, but I actually thought Robert De Niro was even better in Leonov’s *Once Upon a Time in America* alongside James Woods.😁 👍

I’m guessing you missed Robert De Niro’s performance as the shady character in 'Angel Heart'.

Honestly, Al Pacino was totally predictable in 'The Devil's Advocate'. It was almost like in 'Any Given Sunday'. You just KNOW he’s going to launch into one of those intense monologues, so you sit there waiting and waiting, and the movie drags while you wait, only for it to end up being something you've seen a thousand times before—same actor, same thing (that whole worldview of his where his take on life and its problems is always the "right" one). It gets a bit old. So, to answer the question I skipped a few posts ago: both Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, but back when they were younger.

I assume you haven't seen De Niro's performance as the villain in 'Angel Heart'.

Jesus, how could I have forgotten that masterpiece? 👍 👍 I watched it as a kid, then revisited it twenty years later—it hit much harder and felt even better the second time. It’s easily one of the best occult thrillers ever made with a killer twist, and honestly, my favorite film featuring Mickey Rourke. 👍 👍
