Alright everyone, I need some advice. I’m looking for effective exercises to help me put on some healthy weight... I picked up one of those workout DVDs featuring Cindy Crawford, but I have a feeling those routines are more about toning and sculpting than actually building mass. I can't really go out for runs right now, and my schedule is such a mess that I can't make it to any local aerobics classes. Does anyone know of some solid workouts I can do right in my own living room? And by the way, is dancing actually a good way to go about this?

Man, ninety is crazy! 😁 😁
Just grab some sneakers and hit the pavement; that’s how you drop those pounds, and more importantly, you get to breathe some fresh air.

So, what's stopping you from running? 😁

If that's too much, maybe just try rolling around. 😁

Give rolling a shot—it’s an absolute blast! Or if you're feeling adventurous, hit the pool for some swimming instead. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. 🙂

Maybe try adjusting your diet first 😉

Just stick to clean eating 👍

I’ve already tried that route... but I really need to incorporate some actual exercise so I don't just end up looking saggy once the weight comes off.
By the way, my rollerblades are pretty small, and I’m not really looking to drop cash on a new pair right now...

Does dance actually help much? It's honestly the only thing I find fun, so I’m hoping it delivers results comparable to running or rollerblading.

Sure, you can burn calories dancing...

just don't go doing the salsa 😁

but yeah, if it's an active style of dance, it works 😎

Honestly, any kind of cardio is going to do the trick—we're talking running, swimming, cycling, rollerblading, or even dancing 👍
just pick whatever actually sounds fun to you and something you won't totally hate doing. There’s really no point in dragging yourself through some grueling workout if you can't stand it, right? If dancing is what gets you moving, then fine, let it be dancing 🙂
just stay consistent and try to make that regular movement—whatever activity or dancing you choose—a permanent part of your daily routine.

Just sign up for a gym and ask one of the trainers there to build you a proper program. Stick to what they give you—don't deviate...
And don't even try giving me that "I don't have time" excuse...

If you actually know how to swim, you should probably head over to the pool for some Recreation 😁 😁

And btw—is dancing actually effective for this?

Dancing is perfect if you want to slim down... maybe just hit up a club tonight, huh? 😎 😁 Okay, just kidding. But seriously, if you're looking to drop weight, watch what you eat... obviously you have to move, too. That DVD you bought is probably better for building muscle definition, whereas you need more cardio. If you're short on time—though we can always make time—
just walk to work or pick up the pace when you're out... trust me, that works wonders. Run, ride a bike... man, there's so much you can do.
There's plenty of options out there.......plus
keep using that Cindy DVD too.
😁

Does anyone happen to know how many minutes I should aim for each day—if we aren't counting running, aerobics, or anything like that—to drop about 10 pounds? I was thinking more along the lines of rollerblading, jumping rope, walking, or maybe riding my bike... 😢😕:confuse d:😕🤷🤷😕

Look, it's basically 70% diet and 30% workout if you want to lose weight. Everything you just listed—skating, jumping rope, biking, walking—that's all considered aerobic exercise. You should do those activities at a moderate pace for up to an hour whenever you can. My advice? Start slow. Increase your training time by just 10% each session, nothing more. Once you hit that one-hour mark, you're good to go. You don't need more than that.

Swing by the Recreation section; it's got everything you need to know there.

stormyheron4 said:Weight loss is really about 70% what you eat and 30% how you move, so if you want to drop some pounds, focusing on cardio—like rollerblading, using a hula hoop, cycling, or just going for brisk walks—is the way to go. I’d suggest picking the exercises you actually enjoy and keeping them to about an hour; it's best to start easy and gradually bump up your duration by about 10% each session so you don't burn out, and once you hit that one-hour mark, you've pretty much reached the sweet spot.

You should definitely check out the Recreation section, because there is honestly a wealth of information waiting for you over there!

Thanks so much... I feel a bit silly for asking... and I honestly can't stand running since my stamina just isn't where it needs to be yet...🙏🙏👍😉

Look, if you’re running to drop pounds, you have to go slow. You need to stay in that fat-burn zone where your heart rate stays low. It’s all about duration. A good rule of thumb? You should be able to hold a conversation the whole time without being able to sing a song. If you're gasping for air, you're working too hard and it's way too intense for weight loss. Honestly, grab a fitness tracker if you're serious about this.

By the way, out of all aerobic workouts, running is king for losing weight. Swimming just doesn't hit the same way. Water wears you out in a specific way that makes swimmers ravenous afterward, so they end up overeating. Runners usually find their appetite disappears instead.

If you find yourself gasping for air, you've pushed too hard and it's becoming too intense for fat loss. Honestly, if you're serious about training, picking up a heart rate monitor is a total game changer.

Personally, I've always found that running beats out almost any other aerobic workout when it comes to shedding pounds. I remember trying swimming back in college, but the water just makes you so hungry afterward that you end up overeating, whereas runners often find their appetite actually dips after a good run.

well then....😢😢👎👎👎😢😢🙂
