Timothy Kim60 said:Not sure if this fits what he was asking in the thread, but I’d definitely suggest—A Perfect Circle, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, Kyuss (basically just desert rock), and Alice in Chains.

I’m signing off on this a million times (wasn't it Kyuss? haha 🤷) and throwing my vote up for RATM and Audioslave too.
P.S. 😂 milasu

P.S. 😂 cheers to

+ Muse—their live shows are absolutely killer even if the vocals get a bit much for me sometimes—and The Strokes (even though I'm not usually a fan of those Brit-pop style rock bands).

As for Kyuss—honestly, nobody can even agree on how to say it. I heard some guy once pronounce it like "Kajas." It probably sounds like that because they wouldn't even bother with a hard "y"—it's more like "KAI-us."
But who cares? They rock. 🙂

Look, his horizons will expand as he gets older 😬; don't go too hard on the kid, he's still young.

Justin Green said:Hey. I'm mostly into rock stuff where the guitar solos actually matter, you know? Like Guns N' Roses, Uriah Heep, Hallen... Satriani and that kind of vibe. If anyone knows some other good bands, let me know. Just emphasizing ROCK—not metal groups. Any recs?

Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Franz Ferdinand, Mando Diao, Muse

If anyone knows any other good acts, let me know. And just to be clear, I'm talking ROCK, not metal groups, so please don't hit me with metal recommendations...

If you're looking for the real deal with killer guitar solos, you gotta check out old-school Guns N' Roses, Queen, The Beatles, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Boston...

Timothy Kim60 said:And honestly, nobody even knows how to pronounce Kyuss correctly... I think I heard some guy at a local dive bar mispronounce it once, calling them "Kajas." It probably makes sense, though, since their sound isn't really about those standard riffs we grew up with... more of a heavy, desert vibe...
But hey, who cares about the technicalities? They just rock 🙂

Kyuss (pronounced /ˈkaɪəs/ KAI-us) 😉

Listen... Stone Sour... just listen...

Listen... you need to check out Pearl Jam...

Alternative rock... truly the pinnacle of everything... nothing else quite hits that specific frequency...

If you're looking for a solid rock band, maybe check out Gotthard.

I completely agree!
