I’ve been using Chrome for about a month now, and I actually just downloaded the official 1.0 version too. Honestly, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. 👍

My only real gripes are that the text box on this Forum feels twice as narrow as it should be 😕, though I guess I'm used to it by now. Also, I occasionally run into a "Timed out" error... but that's about it.

And Bird is just bad. 👎

Look, I'm with you on pretty much everything except for Thunderbird...

What makes it so bad?😕

And Bird sucks. 👎

Same thing happened to me on Netscape😠

I can barely fit five words on a single line.

Barely five words fit on one line at a time.

Don't Chrome and Netscape use the same code anyway?😕

Maybe I’m just being dense and I missed something obvious, but honestly? If I spend thirty minutes digging through settings and still can't figure out how to set up two separate email accounts with different incoming and outgoing servers, then the software is clearly broken. It shouldn't be this much of a scavenger hunt just to find the most basic settings.👎

You can only set one outgoing server. Just pick the one you use most often—like mail.com, mail.att.net, or mail.edu—and you'll be fine. When you hit write to send a message, it’ll just go out through whichever account you've got selected at that moment.

Still? Why... honestly, having just one outgoing is plenty since you're on the same connection anyway...

Got any other gripes?

You can actually have as many accounts as you want in Opera, even with totally different outgoing servers. Though, personally, I don't see why anyone would need more than one.

Honestly, you have those same options in Bird too.

The only real suggestion here is that sticking to a single server might be the smoother way to go.

Other than that, everything you guys mentioned is working perfectly fine on my end. The only thing acting up is that specific link with the extra comma in it, but I’d bet my bottom dollar that wouldn't work in Opera or Internet Explorer either.

Tito Puente! 😵 You are impossible to pin down.

Here is the detailed breakdown of why that logic fails:

I have two different ISPs. I use NSF for about 90% of my web browsing, and then I use Comcast for those rare moments when NSF starts acting up (which happens more often than I'd like), and I really don't want to be stuck without a connection (thank God that's a rarity).

On top of that, I also have an email account through Outlook.

So, here’s the thing: when I'm connected via NSF, I can't send emails through the Comcast server, and vice versa. Since the NSF mail server glitches out way too frequently, it is absolutely vital for me to have at least one other reliable outgoing server available... right? 😉

But Bird only lets me set up just one.

In my opinion, it's a massive oversight that the developers didn't make it so you could manage 100 different accounts for 100 different emails and connections. To me, that's a huge miss.

Doesn't matter. Either way, it shows the exact same address as the sender.

Adam Wright56 said:Tito Puente! 😵 You’re just impossible to argue with.

Let me break down exactly why this is such a mess:

I’m running two different ISPs—mostly using NSF for about 90% of my web surfing, and then switching over to Comcast on those rare occasions when NSF starts acting up (which happens way more than it should). And honestly, I'm just relieved whenever I actually manage to get online at all.

On top of that, I’ve got an email account through Outlook.

Here’s the problem: when I’m connected via NSF, I can't send emails through the Comcast server, and vice versa. Since the NSF mail server glitches out so frequently, it is absolutely CRITICAL for me to have at least one other reliable outgoing server available... right? 😉

But Bird only lets me set up one.

To me, it feels like a massive oversight that the developers didn't make it possible to juggle 100 different accounts with 100 different connections. It's a huge gap in the software.

Well, in those 10% of cases where you're stuck, you could always just try sending the post through a browser.

Personally, I’m all for having just one outgoing server option. Most of the time, I’m using my AOL account to send everything, even though I juggle several different addresses. On those rare occasions when I end up jumping on an AT&T connection, it’s much easier to just change the setting in one single place rather than hunting through every individual mail account to update them one by one. And then, of course, I have to remember to switch them all back later. It’s not exactly a crisis, but it’s just more busywork than it needs to be.

It works perfectly fine for me to have AT&T as my outgoing server since that’s what I use to get online, yet I can still send emails through my Gmail account without any issues. Honestly, I couldn't even get it to work before when I tried using Comcast as the outgoing server while being connected via AT&T. 😁

Right-click your account, scroll all the way down to the outgoing SMTP server settings, hit advanced, and just add as many outgoing servers as you need...

Is it hard? Is it complicated? Can it actually be done?

It sure can! 👍 Thunderbird is king 😁

It can! 👍 Thunderbird rocks 😁

Nah... it just keeps showing me the first one I entered (the NSF one) and the default one, which is basically the exact same thing.

Once you’ve added the SMTP account within the SMTP server properties (take a look), just navigate back to the specific account you’re trying to update—hit Advanced, then the SMTP tab—to make your selection (see here).

It works perfectly fine for me--honestly, it was quite seamless.

I’ve put together a clearer version for you here:

Regarding the New York Post—it absolutely crawls whenever I have Opera running. The homepage loads just fine, but every single new window becomes a total nightmare. It just hangs there—nothing but a blank white screen—until I hit stop, and then it finally loads normally 😕

Also, what on earth is this .do extension?

I use Microsoft Outlook, which works like a charm, and Safari, which isn't half bad either. I hadn't even considered using Gmail before. But after reading this thread, I figured I’d give it a shot. You can set up as many SMTP accounts as you want. Honestly, it’s way better than I expected—super simple and intuitive. No complaints from me. I don't get why everyone is whining about it.
