Has anyone actually heard of the extreme sport Red Bull? I’m curious if there is anyone here in the States who actually practices it.

You were actually in Manhattan about a month ago hearing about this group from Chicago. Though, honestly, what we do is somewhat similar, just not in an urban setting—we're out in the wild, which is potentially way more dangerous. We’re more like a crew of adventurers or mountain climbers, I suppose.
The guys doing actual Red Bull stuff are the ones you see on the street, and they’re seriously good; you saw how impressive they looked on TV that one time. Doing backflips off five-foot ledges and all that... they're pretty intense.
Maybe do a little digging online, though I don't think they've even launched a website yet. If I recall correctly, they were hanging around the NBC studios or something like that.

I’ve spent countless hours scouring the internet, digging through endless tutorials, staring at photos, and watching videos of them...
...but honestly, I’d love to actually meet someone local who lives and breathes this stuff, just so I could maybe infiltrate their circle... haha... I’m telling you, this sport is absolutely legendary! I’ve always had a massive thing for those urban movement styles, so...

What kind of "nature" Red Bull hobbies are we even talking about here? Give me some details—describe it, post a photo, or something!

For anyone out there looking for more intel, check this out: http://www.le-parkour.com/

Maybe try reaching out to the folks over at Manhattan on NBC; they might be able to point you toward those guys (I was thinking their website, though I know there are plenty of international sites out there). Or, honestly, just ask some of the skaters and rollerbladers around town—they should know who they are since they're always hitting up the same spots as them.
What we do during these adventure races... well, for some of us, it’s just a messy mix of crazy stuff. We're talking jumping off 45-foot cliffs into rivers, rappelling down waterfalls or old stone walls (like the ones you see in places like Charleston, for instance), scrambling through canyons, mountain downhill off-roading, and trail running (with bits of tree-clearing involved 😬). Then there's free soloing—I've actually done it myself, barefoot on one of those climbs... but that isn't quite what you're looking for, is it? Red Bull is more of an urban vibe, and frankly, breaking your neck in the mountains isn't exactly the smartest move.

If you ever watched Parkour, it has similar elements to mountaineering, except instead of scaling skyscrapers, you're tackling rock faces. That urban style is awesome too, but I haven't really tried it yet... I feel a bit too old for it now, and honestly, I'd be too embarrassed if someone caught me looking foolish.😳
Do take a look at my blog sometime; I've posted quite a bit of that kind of stuff there.

Could you please provide the link to the blog? I can't seem to find it anywhere, haha!
On a side note, I ride mountain bikes—mostly focusing on that street style, or at least attempting to pull it off—but this whole thing has piqued my interest quite significantly... wow!

I was actually going to start a thread about this a few days ago.

I was watching an Extreme sport documentary about some guys over in France and England. Man, the stuff they do. At first, I thought it looked kind of pointless—just dudes running around and jumping over railings. I figured, hey, I could do that too. But once I saw them clearing gaps of ten meters or more... it made me think twice. It’s an interesting concept, though...

Anyone heard of this sport? Seems like there's a lot of falling and breaking bones involved. For those who aren't familiar, check out the details here:

I don't know much about the guy, honestly, but from what I've gathered so far, I'm actually kind of digging it. 👍

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on anyone, but I honestly find it hilarious how everything seems to be labeled a "sport" these days...

It’s certainly an intense and pretty interesting way to spend your time, but calling it a sport feels about as accurate as calling traveling, yoga, or even just hanging out a sport.

Actually, if you look at this piece from The New York Times, they mention how "guys in NYC get a little triggered when people call parkour an extreme sport." It isn't even a real sport, let alone an extreme one.😉

I think it’s a solid move. I caught some bits about it on TV... It makes sense, but let’s be real—it’s going to be a massive headache.

A fair amount of years ago, I happened upon a documentary regarding parkour. It seemed to me that those kids were quite determined to meet an early grave.

I caught a segment on ABC a couple of years back and honestly? It was pathetic.
Parkour is supposed to be about skill, but what I saw from the American scene was a total letdown. That whole report felt like a bad Python sketch. 😁
Check this out:
Some kid—acting like he’s some pioneer of the sport here in the States—is just sitting on his porch in some suburb outside Chicago, rambling: "Yeah, so, I'm basically the first one here, you know? I brought this sport to the US. Me and my crew, we just train all the time, you know?"
Then it cuts to two guys walking along, doing a basic forward roll—probably right outside a community college—and then it cuts to them jumping maybe a foot off a lawn...
Back to the porch: "Old people think we're crazy, you know? But we don't care. We've always been about that extreme lifestyle, man, you know?"
It was embarrassing. 😁
Don't hate me, but that segment was genuinely cringey and irritating...

That wasn't even parkour, but then again, it's like what she said about Jesse...

Anyway, I hope you guys have actually progressed (I believe you have) and put together some sort of video... drop a link...

peace😁

I remember that one. Honestly, I couldn't stop laughing.

But man, actual parkour—real deal stuff—is just wild to watch. It’s a total phenomenon; you need guts, a bit of luck, and some serious skill to pull it off.

Me? I’m definitely lacking that last part. 😁

pure skill.

I really miss that last one. 😁

Give me a break, you aren't missing anything. Just get out there and try it; you'll see you can do it. I used to claim I couldn't do it either, and look at me now.🙄 🤣 😵 😵 😉 😁 😬
