Shaun of the Dead

I caught a glimpse of it the other day and, honestly... 👍
It kicks off like some sugary little romantic drama—very much in that classic British style—but just when you’re sitting there thinking, "What on earth am I watching?" the plot takes a hard left turn.
The dead start walking the earth, and that’s when things get real. It turns into a horror flick, but since our lead is a total loser—and his roommate is even worse—it takes these guys a minute to realize what's actually happening. They slowly get sucked into the madness, and once they accidentally knock out some "drunk" girl in the backyard, they realize something is definitely cooking.
Basically, the comedy starts rolling right alongside the horror.
At first glance, it feels like a total parody of "Dawn of the Dead."
But it eventually drifts away from that, carving out its own identity. It isn't exactly groundbreaking or anything, but it's a solid recommendation if you've got nothing else to do.
I was laughing my head off. In my opinion, it's worth a watch. 👍

Apparently, the film blew minds for guys like Sam Raimi and Spike Lee, so I’m expecting some heavy lifting here... maybe something along the lines of a stylized horror-comedy, kind of like an Evil Dead vibe.

Man, this movie was incredible!!!!!!!!!!1111 I caught it yesterday, easily the best thing I've seen all year 😏

It basically has everything I look for in a flick, especially that genre-blending stuff... you know, where you take a standard drama and mix it with a classic zombie vibe and end up with a little masterpiece like this

Everything about it just works. Plus, if you're into zombies, it's such a huge win because there are so many nods to the genre that you can almost play a game trying to spot all the influences... my buddy and I managed to name about 15 different ones, mostly stuff inspired by George Romero's classics

best part: Never EVER use the Z... word 🤣

I'm honestly just counting down the days until I can watch it *legally*😛

it isn't quite like Evil Dead, but man, it's definitely stylized!!!

I also forgot to mention that scene with the records... I don't really want to go dropping spoilers here—I guess if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean 😂

but you can probably grab it on DVD at the local video rental shop pretty soon—maybe later this month?

It might show up under some weird title like Night of the Living Dead... honestly, don't let a bad title throw you off, it's just one of those things where distributors here pick the strangest names possible.

Night of the Living Dead 😕, though the last ridiculous mistake was when they translated Dark Water as Evil... 👎

My coworkers keep bugging me to watch it, but I’ve been pretty hesitant—mostly because of my whole "there's no such thing as a truly good horror movie" 😉 theory.

Since a few of you are raving about it, I guess I'll give it a shot... on your watch. If this thing actually messes with my head, I'm blaming you guys. I'll let you know, either way. For sure. 🙂

I caught this movie about six months ago, and honestly, I thought it was pretty decent and a total blast.

And you want to know how I even ended up with it?
Some total pirate sent me Shaun of the Dead instead of Dawn of the Dead by mistake. 🙂

And you'll never guess where the disc actually landed.
Right in the hands of the cops. They showed up at my place and confiscated a few discs I’d ordered from that shady pirate guy! I guess life just has a weird way of throwing coincidences at you like that, 🙂

Maybe I should ask the local precinct if they enjoyed the flick, haha.

Just two days before watching this, I caught "Dawn of the Dead" and it really hit me how much better those slow-moving zombies are compared to these modern sprinters...😁

That said, the quality does dip a bit as it goes—it’s at its absolute best right at the start, but once they head over to the Winchester, things get a little repetitive. Still, you have to hand it to them, it's a solid effort...

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! This hits the nail right on the head regarding what a zombie flick should actually be—that perfect, balanced blend of comedy and pure terror. Bravo to the director for pulling this off!

Honestly, my absolute favorite part has gotta be when they’re beating the guy and Freddy Krueger starts singing from the jukebox—you know, "Don't stop me now, I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball..." 😁
