What’s everyone’s take on the Pogues reuniting? Does it even make sense at this stage?
I've been looking through some feedback from people who caught their recent shows, and the reviews are all over the place. Some say it was great and that Shane is back in his element, while others claim it's the exact opposite—that Shane can't hit most of the notes and the whole thing just looks pretty pathetic. 😢
I suppose I'd like to believe the first group, but I find it hard to buy. Shane looks rough, to be honest. People are saying the years of drinking and drugs have done permanent damage, and maybe there really isn't a comeback to be had.
Would you actually go to one of their shows? 🤷

That wasn't even my point. I mean, word is things have spiraled so far that he can't even perform anymore. Back when he was younger and actually in shape, he could show up wasted and still pull off a concert, but now... I guess not.🤷

As if getting an education actually has anything to do with how smart you are or how much raw talent you possess... Honestly. It was his deep emotionality and being hypersensitive that drove him straight toward drugs and booze. And for the record, Fairytale of New York is a damn beautiful song.

Anyone hit up the Salad on July 14th? What’s the verdict?
I was honestly stoked when I heard they were playing, but then they just rolled out a weak hour-and-a-half set, if I remember right.
Just when the crowd was finally starting to get into it, they called it quits. 😕 Plus, it wasn't even dark out yet.

The show was short, but man, the musicianship was tight. It wasn’t perfect by any stretch, but it was definitely solid. I wouldn’t call it a weak performance, not even close.

I suppose I would say the experience was decent enough. It felt far too short, and while I suspect Shane struggled with a few of the vocals, the performance itself was solid, the crowd seemed to be in high spirits—especially toward the end—and all things considered, it was alright.

There it is. And Shane is still hanging on like a drunk on a life raft... strange stuff...
I’ve never caught one of their shows, but word is they absolutely kill it when they're having a good night. Shane might be missing a few teeth, but even like that, he’s captivating—honestly almost irreplaceable. Without him, the Pogues wouldn't be what they are. Not by a long shot. Man’s got charisma, regardless. And yeah, I read he was rarely sober, which the band members themselves confirmed. 🙂

Pretty sure he’s had some work done on his teeth. 😬 Honestly, I feel like Shane wouldn't be half the man he is today without a drink in his hand. And if he wasn't, the Pogues wouldn't be what they are either.
