Greetings. It’s me again. Following my recent acquisitions of a laptop and some speakers during yet another graveyard shift, I’ve decided I need an extra mouse for this laptop. I absolutely loathe using touchpads, but I have zero desire to lug my G700 around in the field. So, I am officially requesting your recommendations.
I’m looking for a few specific things:
- Precision.
- Wireless capability (though, if a wired mouse offers significantly better performance for the same price, I’m open to the cord).
- The ability to plug it in via USB if the battery dies—similar to how the G700 works—but honestly, that isn't a dealbreaker.
- A more compact form factor. It doesn't need to be microscopic, but it shouldn't be a massive beast like the G700.
- Just the basics: two buttons and a scroll wheel will suffice.
- My budget is roughly $45.

Something like this might work for you:

Or maybe this one:

As for wired options—Kinzu isn't exactly anything to write home about:

I was looking at that first one you mentioned, but it says it isn't compatible with Windows 8, so that's a no-go for me. Even though I’m planning on sticking with Windows 7 for now, who knows? I might decide to make the jump to Windows 8 sooner rather than later.
I think I'm just going to pull the trigger on this Logitech M560.
Is the Logitech M510 actually any bigger, or is it basically the same size as the Logitech M560? Which one do you actually think is better?

I don't think that really matters, honestly... if you plug in an old-school PS/2 mouse with a trackball, it works just fine, so I seriously doubt this one wouldn't be compatible either.

I just realized the Logitech M510 isn't compatible with Windows 8 either. Absolute disaster. I guess I'm going with the Logitech M560 instead.

Thanks again.

Anyway, I'll do a quick Google search and see what the consensus is!

I’d highly recommend the Logitech M560. It’s a fantastic, compact little mouse. The ergonomics are great, it's lightweight, the response time is solid, and it feels really natural in your hand. I ended up grabbing mine over at Best Buy for about $83.
