Looking for a Chrome recommendation...

Found this for the newsgroups. Didn't realize I’d need to set up a whole new account just to access them.

Yeah, I gave Chrome a shot on Windows, and WordPress.com is completely broken!!! The homepage looks fine, but once you get into the editor, everything is a total mess.

But hey, Opera actually works. It’s legendary for a reason!!! And WordPress.com is holding up pretty well too! Not bad 😁

Seriously, what am I even saying? I feel like I'm just talking to a brick wall here. 👍

If it’s glitching like that, it might just be a sign that some amateur built the whole site... 😁

Opera was nothing but trouble for me. I'm not saying it's trash, but I think Mozilla is way better.
It might sound crazy, but Mozilla loads pages like a bullet—basically instant—while with Opera, I’m stuck waiting a full minute on certain sites.

I don't know about you, but if you ask any Opera fan what makes them stick around, they'll tell you straight up: it’s all about how fast pages load.

Alright, I just ran the test. I fired up both Opera and Mozilla and pulled up the exact same page in both browsers. First, I clicked the link in Mozilla. Then, I jumped over to Opera and clicked the same link there. Once the page finished loading in Opera, I switched right back to Mozilla while it was still struggling to load.

but what is the deal with everyone saying Edge is garbage and suddenly switching over to Chrome en masse?

What now? This one. I stumbled upon a massive pile of Mozilla add-ons online. Among them was "cookieculler" for managing cookies and protecting specific ones. Exactly what I was looking for.

As long as those amateurs at Microsoft don't realize they shouldn't bake the browser so deeply into the OS, they'll never make a decent one.

I’ve been using Netscape since forever, but lately I've switched over to Chrome...

Honestly... the new Windows XP SP2 seems to be making some real moves toward better security... it gives me hope that you can actually browse on Windows without worrying about someone wrecking your PC.

The real question is: who's actually going to stick with Edge once they see what the competition is doing? 😁

I’ve got so much bandwidth that even if both were running at once, they wouldn't even hit half of what I actually have available. Besides, like I said before, I clicked the link in Mozilla first, so if that even mattered, Mozilla should be the one hogging all the bandwidth and finishing first.

Sure, in some perfect little vacuum world. But you're totally overlooking the fact that loading speed is mostly dictated by network traffic, which is a huge factor here 😁 If you actually wanted to prove anything, the smartest way would be to host some massive, data-heavy page on a local server or just on your own machine and then time the load speeds from there.
