I finally caught up on this, though I’m pretty late to the party. It sat on my watchlist forever because everyone kept warning me it was going to be a total disaster... they told me to brace myself. Honestly, I had all sorts of ideas about what it might be, but nothing prepared me for *this*. I actually loved it. It’s been a long time since a movie hit me that hard and really shook things up. Just a complete, powerhouse film.
It’s amazing. Now I definitely need to watch something lighthearted to recover.

Just finished the movie. It was alright, though a bit depressing.

I’m struggling to wrap my head around how she managed to amass such wealth and end up with a daughter after being stabbed in the street.

The acting was top-tier, but the screenplay could have benefited from providing more clarity on those plot points.

The bio is on cable over here, I guess—it’s still running. It wasn't a bad movie from what I could tell, though I only managed to catch about half of it.

I couldn't quite wrap my head around how she ended up wealthy with a daughter after getting stabbed on the street.

The acting was top-notch, but I wish the script had fleshed things out a little more...

Tell me about it.
Well, I actually watched it without subtitles, even though I don't know a lick of German, and if it makes things any more ironic, I only caught bits of it in Turkish...😁
My absolute favorite part was when they were dancing in the disco to Temple of Love by Sisters of Mercy...🙏

The acting is top-tier, but I wish the script spent a little more time explaining the gaps.

Honestly, I think it works just fine. The whole movie is built on the chemistry between those two leads; everyone else is basically just background noise or scenery.
If they had wasted time showing her getting married, having a kid, and all that extra stuff, the movie would've lost its edge and turned into one of those cheesy, cookie-cutter Hollywood rom-coms...
The point isn't what she was doing during those gaps—it's that she kept going. He gave her a second chance despite all her self-destructive tendencies, and she took it. That probably helped her pull through, and maybe out of gratitude for that, she chose to stay with him...
That’s just how I saw it... 🤔 I might be wrong, but I didn't feel like that part was missing.

Not me either. 🙂

I just finished watching that movie and I absolutely loved it; I honestly need to go rent it from a video store again... if I remember correctly, she ends up marrying the cop who saved her life. Anyway, the whole thing was just wild.

It’s just a shame there were barely fifteen people in the theater at my screening at an upscale AMC Theatres... Are Americans really so mindless that they can only stomach those massive American blockbusters? If there isn't heavy CGI or a collection of polished celebrity faces, they seemingly can't handle anything else. 🙂

I completely agree, the film is great. I'm trying to remember the name of the song when they're dancing in the disco and the record skips... (not "Temple of Love by Sisters of Mercy"), if anyone knows it?

Which scene are you actually talking about? On this site the movie is broken down into clips. Just find the specific scene and we'll track down the track. 🙂

Is it the part where the guy gets clocked with an ashtray, or what...?

I’m talking about the scene at the 12:10 mark.. 🙂

It’s this song, just not the version you're thinking of. The one used in the movie is performed by the band Orientation, but you won't find it on YouTube.

Too bad. At least now I have the title... thanks 😉
