Tanning beds

I was.
The girl there actually cleaned up before I even arrived, and she even handed me a fresh towel just in case I needed to dry off after sweating. They've got a shower stall right there in the tanning salon too, so you can get cleaned up beforehand if you want...

Honestly, I was stunned. At the place I used to go, they wouldn't have even bothered saying hello. No clean towels, no prep work... you basically have to do everything yourself.
It’s not that it was difficult or anything, but the service yesterday really touched me.

And it only took $0.67 minutes.

One minute for two bucks?? Where on earth is that happening?

It’s basically the same thing for me—one minute equals $0.67. But today? Today we're looking at one minute equals $0.33! I'm making my move right now.😉

So, I finally went to get a tan yesterday for the first time in three years... just a light session, nothing crazy.

While I was waiting for my friend, I picked up a magazine and stumbled upon this bit about tanning beds. It claimed that people with certain predispositions—like those prone to cancer—should stay far away from tanning salons. They also mentioned people with diabetes should avoid them.
Then, there was a note saying anyone on oral contraceptives shouldn't be using tanning beds either.
The thing is, they didn't bother to explain the "why"—no mention of the actual risks, the consequences, or anything else useful.

Does anyone actually know the science behind this?

I'm not 100% sure why, but apparently taking birth control combined with tanning beds—or even just too much time out in the sun—can cause crazy uneven skin tones... you know, like blotchy patches? So the advice is obviously to take it easy and cover up your face. I’m still going for it though, even on the pill, because everything is 👍

I usually end up hitting the tanning salon about ten times for ten minutes at a time every couple of weeks leading up to summer,
but honestly, I have such a hard time actually catching a tan. Even though I’ve got dark hair and eyes, I just stay pale no matter what I do.

Do you think that's going overboard?

The thing is, my skin is already covered in moles, so I’m really questioning if it’s even a smart move to be using a tanning bed at all.

I actually have psoriasis and tanning beds really help, so I agree!☕

But honestly, even if I were perfectly healthy, I'd still go every once in a while. It just feels so much better to have a little tan when this heat hits...😁

Does tanning beds actually help fade tan lines?

I’m on the pill too, so I stopped by the tanning salon the other day. I only stayed in for about six minutes, but after one or two more sessions like that, I should be good to go. 😁
