Tanning beds

hey ladies 🙂

anyone know a shop in LA that carries those glasses? I'm heading to the coast a few times soon but my vision is basically non-existent... really need to protect my eyes somehow...

It really should be available in almost all of them. I'm actually heading over to one right now—which neighborhood are you in?

So, I popped in there this past Friday around 7 PM for a quick tan. Honestly? As soon as I stepped inside, it was just a crowd of women smoking, and the music from that local boy band 365 was absolutely thumping... 🙂
Then you see the girls coming out of the tanning rooms, and I noticed they hadn't even wiped down the lamps once. Like, seriously? We actually had to call them out on it and send them back to go clean up. I mean, hello, where is the basic hygiene? I was standing there and the whole place smelled like sour milk, and the bass was vibrating so hard my ears were actually aching. Look, I love music, but wow—that was way too much. It’s just... what the heck? A bunch of women smoking while the music shakes the walls? Helloooo, I didn't come here to go to a disco! It was a total disaster. I am definitely never going back there.

Honestly, they should be cleaning up after themselves. I usually wipe things down when I arrive (I don't trust that anyone did it before me) and then clean up once I'm done. It actually took me about three visits to notice the sign: Please clean the tanning bed after use. There's a spray bottle and paper towels right next to the beds. 😎

Back when I was at Sunflower, the staff over at Savannah Women would wipe everything down after every single person. I’m the same way—I always make sure to clean up after myself no matter what, and if I don't see the staff doing it, I'll just jump in and do it myself...

Everywhere I go, they always make sure to clean everything thoroughly and put up a "Sanitized" sign.

I always give it one more wipe down just to be safe. Honestly, I have no clue what they're using for cleaning products, but they don't even have a scent... definitely doesn't smell like those heavy-duty disinfectants you'd find at a CVS.

No offense intended, this isn't aimed at you, but if I'm paying for a service and still have to clean up my own mess...👎 I wouldn't go to a tanning salon, and honestly, I've never been. If I ever did find myself at one, I wouldn't step foot in there again. It’s not about pride. It’s just that tanning salons are a business. I pay them to provide a service, and they're the ones responsible for maintaining their equipment, not me. 👎

Most disinfectants have a scent, at least a little perfume, because most people can't stand that harsh chemical smell. If I were you, I’d just be direct. Ask them how they clean the tanning beds, what products they use, and how often. Any decent business should have their cleaning schedule posted clearly for customers, along with when they last had a health inspection. It’s totally fine to ask about lamp maintenance, too.

Maybe I misread you. You don't need to rearrange the room or mop the floors; just give the bed a quick wipe with some disinfectant after you're done. I don't find that particularly taxing, and it's not like it's a huge imposition—which you actually agreed with. To me, it's just basic etiquette, much like cleaning up after yourself in a public restroom.. 🙄

I actually preferred doing it myself. At least then I knew for a fact it was actually clean.

I always had this hunch that those "sanitizing wipes" they leave out are just there for lazy girls who can't be bothered to wipe the bed themselves every single time.

I’m heading out there too. Tomorrow. It’s just a quick ten-minute drive for me. I should be arriving right around 4:45 PM.

No, I didn't misunderstand you, and cleaning up after myself isn't hard. But here's my point: why should I be wiping things down when that's supposed to be their job, not the customer's?

Maybe I just don't get how things work at a tanning salon since I've never actually been to one.

I always clean everything twice—once before and once after. I simply don't trust them to have done a thorough job, much less trust the people who were using the facilities before me to leave things clean. 😁

I don't see how a restroom and a tanning salon are even comparable service industries... leaving a mess isn't right. I always push my chair in at a local diner or restaurant, but some people just won't.😉 And honestly, a tanning salon should have someone dedicated to keeping things sanitary, but until then, I agree with you. You should clean up after yourself since you never know exactly who is cleaning or when.

Hey ladies, quick question—during those last three minutes when the lamp turns off, you can feel this air blowing... is that just the cooling cycle, or is there something else going on—since another light kicks in right after?

Of course I have glasses—it’s not like they hide anything... And if you're wondering why there's still a lamp burning by the AC unit, it's because I always step outside right before the timer shuts everything off
