Alright folks, let's be honest here... how many times have you sat down, decided today is finally the day you stick to a strict diet, only to throw in the towel after forty-eight hours, or maybe you don't even make it through the first meal?
I don't know about all of you, but this cycle is basically my entire life at this point, and honestly, it’s starting to get a little scary because the scale just keeps creeping up higher and higher...
Please, if any of you have actually mastered this, could you walk me through how you manage to see a plan all the way through to the end? Like, what is that actual spark or motivation that keeps you going when everything else fails?
And more importantly, how on earth do you stop yourself from completely breaking every single rule you set for yourself? I would truly appreciate any help you can give me!!!

Yeah, I’d honestly love to know that too 😁

Once upon a time, I actually managed to hold out for quite a while, but now? I seriously can't even remember how 😕

I don't know about everyone else, but this keeps happening to me constantly, and it's starting to get pretty worrying since I've put on quite a bit of weight.
Could you please help me out and tell me how you manage to actually stick with it until the end? What is it that motivates you to keep going?
How do you stop yourself from breaking your own rules and cheating on the diet? Thank you so much for any help!!!

I have some experience with this.
I once went from 187 lbs down to 105 lbs!!!
Then later, I was at 136 lbs, and now I'm at 112 lbs!!
It feels amazing.

The truth is, there isn't one single diet that is going to make you slim. There just isn't.
At least, I haven't found one.

I think the most important thing is finding your goal—the actual reason why you want to lose weight. I guess the bigger that reason is, the better your results will be.

My approach involves eating very little while staying extremely active. I basically live on tiny morsels, water, and perhaps a single cookie just to get enough sugar to function, followed by one massive, king-sized feast.
Then I repeat that cycle for another 5 or 6 days. For me, that seems to work.

In my opinion, the best "diet" is having great sex, where you have to stay very active; you'll feel good, and I suppose your partner will too. :)

If you sit down and indulge in the middle of the process, it all falls apart because it just triggers a massive appetite that can linger for a long time.

Good luck!

First off, you’ve gotta have a goal, but like, a really important one. Second, you need to realize food is just fuel to keep your body running, not some big reward to indulge in. Real pleasure comes from things like sex, sports, or a hobby—not eating. I can tell you, I’ve stayed right at 125 lbs for ten years now and I feel amazing, especially since I hit the gym almost every single day.😉

First off, you need to figure out WHY you even want this.

And don't go setting these insane, impossible standards for yourself right out of the gate. Unless you’ve got some seriously ironclad willpower, you aren't going to last.

...just pick up a sport you actually enjoy and won't hate doing.
----not only will you get in shape, tone up, and look way better, but it’ll actually give you the grit to stick to your eating plan.
....trust me on this one.

...because otherwise, diets are stupid. Diets suck, period.

You have to change your lifestyle, not just go on a diet.

You set these crystal-clear goals for yourself—you're hitting the treadmill or going for those daily runs, really grinding—and then you see a candy bar or some sugary junk and you just freeze. You think about how much sweat you poured out during that workout, all that effort just to realize one little snack could basically wipe out everything you just accomplished...

Look, if you actually want to feel better, you’ve gotta start hitting the fiber hard in the morning. Drink your water, too. And honestly? Just stick to eating five small meals throughout the day—basically just grab a little something every three hours.

Most of this advice is just noise. You have to burn more than you consume, and if you eat a lot, you simply need to work out harder. That’s the whole game; everything else is nonsense. There isn't a single diet out there that doesn't result in the yo-yo effect. Once someone switches to healthy eating—in normal portions, mind you, not starvation levels—they'll never touch junk food again because it'll actually make them feel sick.

Some people are naturally built a bit heavier, while others are leaner. I believe everyone should aim for their own natural weight. Forcing yourself to drop those "last two annoying pounds" can be incredibly taxing on your body.

I used to think dieting was the shortcut—you grind for a month and then you're set for life. But like people have said a thousand times: DIETS ARE GARBAGE! The fastest, most sustainable way to lose weight is through healthy nutrition, which is discussed plenty in our nutrition and fitness threads.

Chloe Gomez6 said:All those diet tips are honestly just noise. It’s simple math: you gotta burn more than you take in, and if you eat a ton, you just gotta move more. That’s the whole game right there. There isn't some magic diet that doesn't result in gaining weight back later. And once someone actually starts eating real food—I mean actual meals, not just starving themselves—they usually stop craving junk because it just tastes gross to them. If you stick to healthy stuff, your weight kind of just sorts itself out.

I get what they're saying, but I disagree on one thing: you can definitely overdo it on the "healthy" stuff too.

You really have to find that sweet spot.

For me, staying consistent with my meals matters way more than hitting the gym.

You're really out here replying to posts from five years ago...🙄

As for the questions, I’m totally with the sentiment expressed in that line. Completely.
