Wait, how'd you actually push it up to 258!?😕

Raymond Rodriguez40 said:Regarding expertise... the mods here fall into the "meh" category.

In this specific section they definitely have certain people—or kids, judging by the ages being cited

If you can even believe it...😕

Just look at which subforum that mod is actually in—I stick to the PC and mobile sections.

But how'd you manage to hit 258 FSB? I can't even get close—it won't give me the option, just caps out at 250. 😕

Running revision 3.2... latest BIOS available... and I'm still stuck at 250 max.

How are you getting higher? Are there different versions of these boards floating around or what?

I'm running revision 3.2 with the latest BIOS... and I'm hard-capped at 250!!!

How are you getting higher... are there different versions of these boards floating around or what!?

Who knows, man.😕 I managed to push it to 258 once, and I think I even tried 259, but that was a total bust... (can't quite remember if I went any higher than that..)

Epoxy isn't going to help anymore🙄 Honestly, I’m kind of surprised... I've got an 8RDA3+ and it can actually hit 258 FSB, but since my RAM is the bottleneck here, I just keep it pinned at 228...

8RDA3+ 😲 258 FSB 😲

FIRST IMPRESSION.... what kind of cooler should I use on a laptop—that blue Cooler Master Hyper 212 or something similar???

Do I need passive cooling on the MOSFET or is it unnecessary?

It's all in the details, folks—the little details😁

FYI - my old 8RDA+ started giving up the ghost once I hit 230 FSB 🙄 . The RAM wasn't even the issue—it was Corsair Vengeance LPX. It just wouldn't go any further, regardless of how much voltage I threw at it. 👎

AWESOME.... what kind of cooler are you running on the laptop - that blue Corsair or something similar???

Do you need passive heatsinks on the MOSFET or nah?

Give me the details, man - I need details! 😁

FYI - my old 8RDA+ was already dying at 230 FSB 🙄 . It wasn't even the RAM - I was using Corsair Vengeance LPX. It just wouldn't budge, regardless of the voltage. 👎

Looks like I actually scored a killer board👍

On the laptop there's a blue Corsair, and for the CPU I've got a Cooler Master Hyper 212. Case temps are sitting between 28-35 C or whatever.🙂

On my laptop, I've got some blue Corsair RAM, and for the CPU, I'm running a Cooler Master Hyper 212. Internal case temps are hovering somewhere between 28-35 C, so nothing too crazy there.🙂

Now I'm just sitting here wondering about the revision number.😁

I honestly don't get it... if we're looking at the exact same revision... how come yours can push past 250 FSB while mine just hits a wall?

Let me say it one more time... mine won't let me go over 250 FSB in the BIOS no matter what.

How is yours actually working?

Mine's already choking out at 230 FSB...

Man, ASUS used to be way better than this—everyone spent so much time trashing them back in the day. 🙄

My gigabyte (MSI MAG series) lets me bump the clock speed up to 300 MHz in single megahertz increments within the BIOS, so I’m thinking the Epoxy should be able to handle that too 😕

So, how high can you actually push the FBI frequency!?

Like I've said a hundred times already—I top out at 250 MHz. How on earth are you getting any higher than that...!?

Look, I’ve said this a hundred times already—I hit a wall at 250 MHz! Seriously, how the hell are you getting any higher than that...!?

I think it's 300, but honestly, I'm not even sure.🙂

My apologies if this isn't the right place to ask this question

What are the safe limits for increasing memory and CPU voltage via the BIOS?

how high can I push my memory and CPU voltage? thinking about tweaking it in the BIOS

Yeah, you're definitely in the right place.🙂

Look, my advice? Don't touch that CPU voltage past 1.8V. Seriously. If you're sitting at 1.8V and your temps are still totally fine, you might be able to squeeze out 2.0V, but don't go any higher unless you've got some insane liquid nitrogen setup or something crazy...

As for your RAM... you can safely bump it up to 2.77V. You can even push it to 2.9V if you absolutely need it for a higher FBI clock or tighter latencies.🙂

But I’m not asking about overclocking; my PC keeps restarting randomly while I'm working, and I suspect some component isn't getting enough voltage enough...

Tyler Lee57 said:Look, I’m not even asking about overclocking here. My PC keeps hard-rebooting right in the middle of work, and I’m betting some component isn't getting enough juice.

Yeah, could be. But honestly, if everything is set to factory defaults, that shouldn't be happening...

It’s totally possible your PSU is just dying or it's a cheap piece of junk to begin with.😕

Or you could have a virus or some other crap messing things up.🙂

This isn't even the sub dedicated to malware, and believe me, if I weren't almost certain this was a virus, I wouldn't have bothered typing a single word.
All I can tell you is that this kept happening even after a full drive format and without a single application running, so it’s definitely some kind of virus crisis.

Though, it's also highly possible the power supply is the culprit. I have no idea which one... but I'm dreaming of picking up a Seasonic🙂
