Is it possible to overclock my AMD Ryzen 3000? It's currently running at 2.01 GHz, and I was thinking about pushing it a bit higher... I wonder if there might be a tutorial available somewhere regarding this process...

Ugh, why am I so incredibly sensitive about grammar and punctuation? 😠
There isn't a single comma or period in sight... seriously, my eyes are bleeding!

So, I’ve been trying to figure out how to overclock my AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT, but I’m hitting a bit of a wall here. When I go into the control center, tweak the frequency settings, and run a test—I hit accept, but the frequency just stays exactly where it was. It won't budge. Also, the ATI tray tool refuses to even read the frequency unless the actual tool is running in the background. To top it off, RivaTuner doesn't even give me the option to see those specific stats. Any ideas?

On certain motherboards, you actually have to go into the BIOS and manually enable the option for graphics card overclocking.

Wait, seriously???

Did you not realize?

For instance, if my BIOS is set to the factory defaults, I am unable to overclock my graphics card.
I have to manually enable the specific option within the BIOS first.

I have to go into the BIOS and flip a specific setting first.

Which option exactly?

I honestly hadn't a clue myself😁

Let's hear it from you, Jimmy, which option are we talking about here?...

Yep, I'm right there with you on that one🙂 though honestly, at this point, I really can't be bothered to go digging through the BIOS settings again...

steelsailor3@ that’s all there is to it.
Kyle Sanchez4@ you haven't the slightest clue what you're talking about 🙂 (just kidding) 😁

Honestly, that’s probably just some weird quirk with the PCI-E bus settings, so it shouldn't really have anything to do with how you're overclocking the GPU.

Actually, it absolutely could affect GPU overclocking.😁

It actually does have an effect.☕
If that option is disabled, I can push my card to the maximum frequency allowed by the software without any issues. In that scenario, the GPU frequencies stay at their default levels regardless of how much you increase them in something like RivaTuner—GPU-Z confirms this behavior.

However, if the option is enabled, the card behaves "normally," meaning the overclock actually takes effect.

Can I actually overclock this CPU?
I just picked up a 400W Blue Storm power supply and a Corsair case for my Skyscraper build.

Most people tell me there’s no point in overclocking a quad-core, but for gaming, isn't it necessary since most titles still rely heavily on a single core?

(Copy-pasted 🙂 apologies for posting in the wrong section)

Well, I suppose it really all depends on what kind of motherboard you're rocking, how much RAM you've got installed, and honestly, how well your cooler handles things along with the overall airflow inside your Corsair case... It really comes down to whether you're running the B3 or the G0 stepping, I guess...

Increasing your processor's frequency will certainly bump up those FPS numbers, though, if we're being honest, your graphics card is going to be the real heavy hitter in that equation...

Motherboard - Fatal error
RAM - 2 x 2GB Geil
Not sure about the cooler or airflow, though some guy at Best Buy claimed this case I’ve got has decent airflow. How am I supposed to verify that?
Got a B3 with stepping 7

So... what case are you running, and how many fans do you have in there (and their sizes)?

But honestly, if you ask me... I think you might be overdoing it just a little bit...🤣
