That sounds pretty great on paper, I guess...
but then again..
does anyone actually know the real deal with this??
I mean, what about things like infections, or the pain and all that mess..

I'm talking about infections, pain, all that good stuff.

Forget the infection talk—just go get it done already. 😁>

Oh, please, don't go drilling into your navel! That is honestly not a great idea at all—it’s just gross.
First off, it's going to hurt. You won't be able to sleep on your stomach for a month because of the soreness, and then you risk getting an infection. Before you know it, you'll be left with a permanent hole once you decide you're over the piercing...
The belly button is definitely not meant for drilling. Just grab some cute temporary tattoos and switch them up whenever you feel like it! Take care of your health.

I’ve heard the rumors too, you know... about how much it hurts and how much weight you might put on... but...
ugh, seriously...
;(
Right now I am just 😢
but whatever... I guess that's just what everyone is doing these days... maybe this phase will pass...

It doesn't hurt at all, honestly. As long as you stay on top of things, there's no infection or whatever. The hole stays, but it's basically invisible.

Don't give up now, honey, I'm rooting for you! He's all yours—just please, don't kill him!

True, you shouldn't go drilling into your belly button, but whatever...
It’s not like you can’t sleep on your stomach for a month, I guess, but you really gotta watch out so you don't snag the piercing when you're getting dressed or something.

First time I've ever heard about someone killing their own belly button, but whatever.
I guess I'm not really rooting for anyone, do whatever you want... with your belly button or whatever, but saying it doesn't hurt is just straight up lying.

Hannah Davis18 said:Look, I get it, you aren't exactly supposed to be drilling into your belly button, but still...
It’s not exactly true that you can’t sleep on your stomach for a month straight, though I guess you really have to watch yourself so you don't snag the piercing on your shirt or something while you're getting dressed, which sounds like a total headache.

And honestly, I’m such a klutz that I’d probably snag it within five minutes, 100% guaranteed.
But what about my belly button though??
Because, I don't know, I kind of think it looks pretty sexy....
And...
My cousin's piercing has been all gross and infected for six months now.
Ugh, just thinking about it makes me feel sick...
I definitely wouldn't put myself through that...
Anyway, how much does a thing like that even cost?

True, the navel heals slow. If it’s been oozing for six months, she really should've hit up a doctor. I mean, it's her own belly button, though.
There aren't any crazy complications usually, but if someone gets an infection and just ignores the wound or whatever, then yeah: you've got a situation.
I know plenty of people with all kinds of piercings all over their bodies and nobody ever had major issues, provided the piercer actually knew what they were doing...
Not sure about the price lately. A while back it was around $100, but you can easily find out by just calling a local tattoo shop.

Oh, come on, guys, please! I’ve had my navel pierced for like 9 or 10 years now, and I have never dealt with any infections or issues at all...
When I actually got it done, the piercer just applied a little local numbing agent to the area, and the whole piercing process was over in a literal second.
You don't even feel it.
It might be a bit sore afterward because the healing process is pretty slow, but as long as you follow the aftercare instructions they give you at the studio, you won't end up with an infection.
And honestly, what is all this nonsense about not sleeping on your stomach? I went right back to sleeping on my belly immediately... and nothing ever snagged or got irritated.
I mean... as long as you aren't being aggressive and pulling on it, it shouldn't rip out or anything.
For cleaning, my piercer gave me a specific solution that I had to use to rinse my navel twice a day. If they don't provide anything, a simple saline solution works wonders... just rinse it a bit until it heals up and you're good to go.
It is true that it heals soooo incredibly slowly, but it doesn't get infected.
It took me about six months to fully heal.
During those first six months, you really shouldn't be swapping out your jewelry, though you can definitely change it later on. I swap mine out all the time now. 😁
The indentation is so tiny that there's really no reason to worry about ending up with some massive hole in your stomach. Plus, if you decide to take the piercing out, the little divot eventually closes up and leaves behind just a tiny little scar.
Good luck!

Just please, don't go poking at your belly button...

I heard if you fall off a skyscraper, you could get caught on a TV antenna and end up with your entire digestive tract pulled out before you even hit the ground.🙄

Give me a break, people...

I didn't undergo the procedure myself, though my best friend did. She loved it—for about two months during the summer. After that, she couldn't even wear high-waisted pants without feeling uncomfortable—belts were a nightmare...

She grew tired of it pretty quickly, and honestly, it isn't much of a novelty for a boyfriend either—after a few months, it just starts to feel like the "new normal."

She also dealt with some issues regarding irritation and healing; her skin always seemed a bit more inflamed around that area than the rest of her body.

After a year had passed, she decided to let everything heal naturally.

So, you decide. If you think those few months a year are worth the hassle—do it.

Wait, what do you mean by a few months out of the year?
And seriously, what kind of pants are we talking about that actually end at the belly button?
I don't own a single pair... 😉

I already told them over at Vogue that my menu just won't let me go through with it... 😢 I mentioned that if I don't, I might just end up letting the beard grow out instead. 😠

I don't own any. 😉

Oh, come on, Betty Wright64—we aren't getting any younger, so we can't exactly show up to work with our midriffs exposed. We're getting old, I suppose... 😢

So... I’m 31 years old now.
It’s not quite like I’m walking around with my midriff showing at the office or anything, it’s just that I can’t seem to find a single pair of pants that actually hits me at the ankles... 😉
