Aloe vs. Cactus: Which one is easier to keep alive?

I need to track down about 10 ounces of fresh aloe vera leaves—specifically from a plant that’s at least a year old—to prep a medicinal remedy. Does anyone have a lead on where I can actually source this?

It’ll be pretty tough to find fresh aloe vera around here, since if I remember correctly, most of it is grown in just one specific region. I think they might have managed to cultivate some varieties on a few Mediterranean islands, but the quality just isn't there. What are you planning to use it for? Some of my older neighbors use an aloe-based cream, so I could probably ask them where they pick theirs up. Shoot me a PM if you want me to check

I picked it up at IKEA, though honestly, I have no clue how long I've actually had it.
It seems to pop up in every single flower shop lately—usually goes for about ten bucks.

My grandad used to grow this right on his windowsill... I'm pretty sure he picked it up here in the States... but who knows? Sorry! Maybe try checking out some local nurseries, garden centers, or even those organic health food stores
