which you showed up to anyway—right after The Bangles played. So, are we all just "rotten" now, or what? 😛

Exactly! 😕

I feel for him—honestly. It can't be easy having to deal with all this while still being stuck in the band... I used to think this kind of drama only happened in movies, but apparently, that's just how the Violent Femmes roll.😁

Look... just saying, half the concert was basically 🙂 🙂
Honestly, if I hadn't been stuck standing right in front of some incredibly stupid Americans who were driving me insane with their moronic attitudes, it might've actually been a better show 😁

I’ve been spinning The Bangles since back in the 80s, honestly. I am seriously kicking myself for missing out on this concert—it felt like some kind of higher power just wouldn't let it happen, you know? Anyway, how did they sound when they played Black Girls Rock!? Because man, that track is absolutely legendary.

It would've been even better if I hadn't been stuck standing next to some incredibly clueless Americans whose mindless attitudes were driving me crazy. 😁
Half of what??? I was right there for the first song, then—snap!—they're already playing Add It Up... and the whole thing was absolutely killer.

Oh my goodness 😍... oh my goodness 😍... oh my goodness 😍... I just love them so much 😍... I had such an incredible time last night 😍... my dear Bangles 😍... and my wonderful boyfriend, who actually grabbed the tickets on time so I didn't have to deal with any drama 😍... I seriously need to see them again 😍...

I suppose they played most of the first set—or maybe just nearly all of it—followed by the first four tracks plus Black Girls Rock! from the second, and then I held her in my arms during the third (🙂 🙂). They also threw in some American music along with Why Do Birds Sing and a few bits from Freak Magnet. If they had asked me, I might have put together a slightly better setlist🙂 (well, with a few exceptions perhaps)
.
The band truly has a following here. I wasn't quite expecting to see so many people who seem to know almost every single lyric to every song. It was an excellent show🙂
.
And honestly, The Factory is easily the most unpleasant venue in Chicago. From the aggressive, meathead types lurking at every turn to paying twenty dollars for a bamboo drink👎

Black Girls Rock! was played brilliantly, especially since Gordon Gano pointed out that it happens to be Condoleezza Rice's favourite song 😁 They were joined by a trumpet player and a saxophonist during that number (and a Xylophone player joined in for Daddy's Home), though for most of the set, it was just the core trio, and they sounded phenomenal.
My absolute highlight had to be Never Tell—I’ve always loved that track, but they went completely wild with some jamming during certain sections (it looks like even the Wi-Fi technician enjoyed it 😁), which sent me into a total trance 🙄
The Mob really lost their minds during, naturally, Add it Up (where the crowd took over those opening daaaaaaaay, after daaaaay lines instead of Gano singing them), and several other tracks like Death Song.
Honestly, the show was outstanding. I can't remember the last time I sang along to every single word from the first note to the last 👍 And frankly, it was exhausting (I’m feeling pretty wiped today—I guess I'm getting old 😢 )
The atmosphere was top-tier as well. I’m fairly certain I ran into the entire old guard from the 1987–1991 era, but there was also a massive contingent of younger fans who clearly knew their history and possessed exactly the kind of energy required for a show like this 😁
The only thing I agree with everyone else on is the criticism of The Factory. We already know the venue is incredibly hostile, and the security staff are incompetent even by security standards 😁. As for the space itself, it was sweltering and stuffy; the ventilation was terrible, and the crowding caused several people to feel ill. Interestingly, the security actually impressed me by refusing to let anyone open the cloakroom before the show started, which meant a huge crowd (who had been caught in yesterday's rain) had to parade around holding umbrellas 👎.
Even so, despite the flaws, the concert was perfect 🙏

That Xylophone part in Daddy's Home? That was actually Brian... 🙂Just thought you guys should know.

Are you actually serious right now? 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Good grief... talk about being completely out of your depth...😁

The vibes were honestly just incredible. I feel like I ran into the entire old-school Apple fan club from back in the late '80s, but there was also this huge crowd of younger kids in The Mob who clearly knew their stuff—they weren't just there for the show, they actually knew everything about The Bangles and had all that wild energy you need for a concert like this. 😁
Nah, you didn't, because I wasn't even there! 😢

Explain yourself, please.😕
Also, I couldn't tell if that was the original drummer de Lorenzo or someone else? (The way he was twitching around like some kind of cartoon character really pissed me off. When I listen to VF, I want raw teenage angst, not some damn circus act.😠 )
Their official site claims:
"Trivia"
Then again, maybe their site is out of date. On top of that, looking at a 21-year-old photo from their debut album doesn't exactly help with identification....

"Ever since the band kicked off, bassist Mike Watt has GAINED 65 POUNDS!!!!"
Ugh, again, this stat from the website is painfully true. (And obvious.)😁

WHAT ventilation???? There isn't any!
As for the concert itself, I truly have nothing but praise to offer...

Furthermore, I couldn't quite tell if we were looking at the original drummer, Victor de Lorenzo, or someone else entirely. (To be honest, his performative, almost cartoonish fidgeting was grating. When listening to VF, I'm looking for raw teenage angst, not some damn circus act.)😠 )
😂
Perhaps things would be different if it were still 1985... then again, the guys have aged a bit. That "teenage angst" phase has long since passed.😬

"original Femmes drummer Victor DeLorenzo and current Femmes drummer Guy Hoffman both have bald spots in The same Place on THEIR HEADS !!!"
Though, perhaps their site hasn't been updated lately. On the other hand, relying on a twenty-one-year-old photo from their debut album doesn't exactly make identification easy...
Yes, it was the original—Victor de Lorenzo. He worked with Hoffman for a while, maybe ten years until a few years back, but now the clown Lorenzo is back in the lineup...

Despite a handful of glowing reviews out there, the consensus over at the VIP forums isn't quite as rosy:

I honestly don't get it—one report says BR had short hair back in NYC
but then a day later, they're showing him with long hair in LA:
