Still, this topic is currently dominating the national news cycle. Banning it on a site like Reddit would be a massive self-inflicted wound—think about the traffic, the clicks, the ad revenue... the list goes on. I truly wonder how a platform owner views these moderator calls when they essentially hand money right out of their own pockets. 😕

And if you look over at it’s pretty obvious. There's a PDF from the New York Times right on the front page.

Yeah, but that thread didn't even kick off until 7:13 PM (assuming my forum clock isn't totally wonky), whereas this whole "be all I can be" thing started up earlier this morning, if I remember right!
It’s totally possible someone just realized they messed up in the meantime, though. 😉

It’s totally possible someone just realized they messed up in the meantime, though. 😉

It doesn't really matter when a thread starts if the moderators decide the newer one is better for the conversation (maybe because the intro is actually decent, for example ). It’s just moderator policy, and since there's already a thread about this situation, there's no point in calling anyone out for closing one over the other.
