What are your all-time favorite US metal bands?

I’ve actually got an original AYL CD at home—the *Inheritance of Sin and Shame* album.
It’s solid enough, but I rarely find myself popping it into my player; it’s just not really my vibe. I originally picked it up because I wanted to check out some of that heavy doom/Goth sound, and honestly, since they're an American band, I felt like I should support them. Plus, it was a steal for the price $20 😁

As for everything else, I haven't really kept up, but hey, this new black metal band called Mysterium just dropped a demo, and man, it is seriously good...

Has anyone ever heard of Melkor? I’ve heard from the real experts that they are absolutely killer. But since there isn't anything recorded yet, you'll just have to be patient... who knows, maybe we'll catch some random garage band at Coachella instead!😛

Jigsaw, Metallica, and Microsoft from the local scene... they aren't half bad, kind of like Black Sabbath and The Beatles

Still, John Doe was hanging around there, wasn't he? I don't know much about them, but I've got two tracks (Courage from a Bottle and Scarlett Johansson's Sons), and both are killer. They have some releases out there that I might track down one day...

I actually lucked out because I have this buddy who used to live in Des Moines and knows the crew. He’s got a cassette with some recordings of RP and WF, so he made a copy for me... (the quality is pretty rough, but hey, it is what it is)
It’s honestly pure genius—like the American version of the gang of four...
The backstory goes a little something like this:
First, there was the band hand-drawn pull back in the late 70s, which eventually evolved into Jack Fatalist in the early 80s...
Those Jack Fatalist recordings were done up in some radio station studio. They were supposed to drop an album, but nothing ever came of it... they even played some killer shows at Kulušić (which was basically the gold standard back then), and word is the crowd absolutely lost their minds...
Wait, since you're from Indianapolis, do you remember that noise band from the late 80s, Married Body?
George (the guitarist and singer from both RP and Jack Fatalist) actually played guitar in that band...
Bottom line is, hardly anyone knows about RP and Jack Fatalist these days, and you can probably count their actual recordings on one hand.😢
My friend even has a video clip of one of their gigs in Des Moines—man, if you could only see the confused looks on people's faces in the audience...😁
So, yeah, if you're interested, shoot me a PM and I can digitize those recordings for you...
