Greetings...
I realize I have entered a women's discussion thread, but I noticed someone mentioned combining prescription glasses with clip-on shades...
I need advice on whether purchasing those clips is a wise move.

Photochromic lenses aren't very practical for driving, since the windshield blocks the UV rays required to trigger the tinting. However, the glare and direct sunlight are quite bothersome.
HELP
🙏🙏🙏

Here’s my dilemma: I actually have great vision—honestly, I think it might even be better than average—but whenever I put on sunglasses, everything gets distorted.
I’m really into mountain biking, so a solid pair of sport sunglasses is a total necessity for me. It’s just not comfortable riding in the blazing sun without them, plus they’re a lifesaver when it comes to keeping bugs, mud, and stray branches out of my eyes.
The thing is, I have a few pairs at home, and every single one of them messes with my depth perception. It makes me feel like I’m sitting 6 inches higher off the ground than I actually am, or like there’s a weird dip in the middle of the trail. It sounds minor, but it’s dangerous—I end up misjudging the terrain, which has led to some pretty sketchy near-crashes.
A few days ago, I went out to see if the issue was just with my current gear or if it happens with all sunglasses. I hit up a couple of stores and tried on about 30 different models ranging from $200 up to $333, and the result was basically the same every time.
If anyone has any idea what’s going on—I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue with my eyes specifically—I’d really appreciate some insight. I'm feeling a bit lost on how to even approach fixing this. I’m planning to head to the eye doctor soon anyway, so if anyone has recommendations for specialists, please let me know.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this topic has already been covered somewhere else!

So, seriously—does absolutely nobody have an answer, a suggestion, or even just a tiny bit of advice to help me out? I'm honestly feeling a bit lost here—I don't even know where to start to figure out what the actual problem is.😢

Hmm... I actually had the exact opposite experience myself, where I felt like my vision was always on the lower end of the spectrum, and I noticed those same visual distortions once I finally started wearing prescription glasses. If you truly feel like you possess "above-average vision" in whatever way 😁 😉, it’s possible that your sight is being slightly compromised by the lenses in your sunglasses. It might be worth scheduling an appointment with an eye doctor just to get everything checked out... I'm not quite sure what else to suggest 🙄

I’m planning to see an ophthalmologist soon. But I was wondering—since I feel like my situation is pretty out of the ordinary—whether I should just take my insurance referral to a standard eye doctor for a routine checkup, or if I should go to a private specialist who might actually put in the extra effort to help me, especially since I’ll be paying out of pocket myself.😬

Ultimately, the decision rests entirely with you 🤷 I personally visit the hospital on a regular basis and always have a wonderful experience, though I suppose that really depends on which specialist you happen to be assigned. It might be wise to check the rates at a private clinic like Mayo Clinic and compare that against the potential wait times at a public facility to see which option makes the most sense for your situation 🤷

Hey there. Quick question—I just picked up some polarized Ray-Bans and I’m hoping to keep them exactly as they are, but with a -1.00 prescription added to both lenses. Is that actually doable? And if so, what kind of damage are we talking about financially—maybe somewhere in San Francisco? Just looking for a ballpark figure. Thanks!

Honestly, I’m convinced that when summer hits, nothing beats a good pair of prescription sunglasses. It just makes life so much easier when you don't have to worry about losing your contacts or dealing with blurry vision while you're out on the water... Prescription sunglasses

So, you’ve decided to revive a thread that hasn't seen any activity in seven years—just so you can drop that exact same link for the 15th time (edit: let's be honest, it's practically every single time). We already removed it from your signature, by the way. I suppose there really is a cure for chronic spamming after all.
