I’ve never really been out there myself, but I know most skaters end up hanging it up pretty early onβ€”kind of like what you were saying earlierβ€”mostly because they’ve absolutely trashed their legs and blown out their knees, and let me tell you, those injuries don't just disappear when you grow up.
So, as much as it might feel like a total poser move, just wear the damn pads and gear, unless you’re actually planning on quitting in like two years because your body finally gives out on you.

Listen... I am already considering giving up. I have barely started this journey, yet my elbows are already aching and my legs feel bruised...

Oh, man, Eric Jackson43, you're really something else...
But honestly, what am I even supposed to say to those guys tearing it up on obnoxious motorcycles or driving those aggressive muscle cars??

I'm not exactly a skater myselfβ€”it feels a little too slow-paced for meβ€”but man, that answer you gave was absolutely killer. πŸ‘ πŸ‘

skateboarding -> skateboarding -> skateboarding -> ollies -> now I just walk

I eventually realized the point after a nasty fall on my right arm. Nothing was broken, but for a month, I couldn't even hold a pen, let alone anything else with that hand.

These days, I stick to skiing in the winter and windsurfing during the summer. 😎

Me and my board... man, what a rush, though it goes by fast... I once wiped out hard on some concreteβ€”ended up with my arm in a cast for three weeks, so yeah, that was fun...
Richard Perez4 is right, thoughβ€”once you’re sitting in a car, skating feels way too slow, and honestly, pizza doesn't even stick to a wooden deck that well. Back in the day, we used to just "smash" on the Remus instead of dealing with the rattle of the wheels, but whatever, there's always dessert (unless your hand is in a cast like mine was, then eating left-handed is a total pain)...

...as far as I know, Tony Hawk is the king of skaters (well, he used to be, maybe not so much now)β€”he doesn't have a spleen anymore because they had to take it out after he overdid it too many times... so just think about that...

Man, if we’re all gonna look at things that way, we might as well just stay home and never do anything ever again... including anything even remotely risky.
I’ve been riding motorcycles for a few years now, and most of them have been pushing 155 milesmph.
Look, I’m fully aware that taking a nasty spill at high speedsβ€”or dealing with some idiot in a car who doesn't give a damn about the tiny percentage of us on bikesβ€”is going to absolutely wreck me.
But honestly? That rush is what makes it incredible for me...
I’ve had a couple of pretty gnarly wipeouts myself... and after those, when I hop back on the bike for the first few days, I’m definitely more careful and tend to cruise a bit slower... but then the feeling wears off, and I’m right back to my old self.
It’s the exact same thing with your skating... if you live for that adrenaline, then just get out there and skate, man.
Sure, you can get hurt doing pretty much anything, and some things are definitely worse than others, but...

I used to skate back in the dayβ€”until I wiped out hard on some rough asphalt. Ended up in the hospital with a broken back and a cracked skull. 😁
For three whole days, I could barely move anything besides my eyes and fingers... 😁 😁

Look, I didn't say you shouldn't skate, I just said wear the damn pads, no matter how ridiculous it feels. And all that talk about impact is based on actual physics, not just some random bullshit I'm making up. When you're riding a motorcycle, sure, you can wipe out, there's always a chance, but when you're skating, you *will* wipe outβ€”I know you've eaten pavement more than once. Every time you try to nail one of those tricks (don't even ask me what they're called, I haven't bothered learning the names), you're gonna slam hard a dozen times before it sticks. Even without gear, you can end up with permanent damage because let's face it, you're falling every single day. Just ask Spinn how many times he's wiped out, then compare that to how often you fall, or even how often a pro skater hits the ground. Honestly, I'd bet my life that Spimm wears every piece of protective gear known to man. (not that it matters πŸ˜‰ )

In the winter, I’m always geared up with my armored jacket and a helmet...
But man, during the summer, it gets way too hot for me 😁
However, whenever I head out of townβ€”like if I'm driving out to the lake house or hitting the coast near Miamiβ€”I always make sure to throw on my helmet. I know I tend to ride a bit more aggressively on those open roads, and honestly, I have to admit that wearing a helmet just makes me feel... well, I don't know how else to put it, but I feel safer.

I’m an inline skater.
Everyone was losing their minds when I hopped from my skates onto a skateboard and managed to roll for a solid 30 feet or so πŸ™‚

If I hadn't been wearing my skates, I probably would've eaten dirt for sure 😁
Back then, maybe about three years ago, I used to skate for something like 8 hours a day.

Goodness me,πŸ™‚
Well then... you may say whatever you wish, yet I shall continue to skate.πŸ™‚
(Even if they have to extract my 😁 from me.)

How do you even manage to type with nails that trashed?

It takes years of practice to pull that off, honestly; most people couldn't handle it, but he's one of those rare ones who actually can.πŸ˜‰

He’s pulled it off 1,686 times now. I can only imagine how impeccable his manicure must be at this point.😁
