So, I was hanging out on Reddit earlier and someone mentioned how they got hit with one of those sketchy penis enlargement ads while browsing a random site—which, honestly, is just typical internet nonsense—but it totally triggered a memory about this movie and that whole creepy concept of using iris scanning for targeted advertising. 😁

Has anyone actually sat down and watched this flick? I’m curious to hear what you all think about it.

The movie’s actually pretty solid. As far as I know, this is the second time they've tried to adapt a Philip K. Dick story, and honestly? They pulled it off. That being said, even though people were already warning us about it, you just can't hold it up against Blade Runner. That film reached legendary masterpiece status for a reason, and nothing else quite touches it.

It’s not just another remake. I can’t recall the others offhand, though there was one that just hit streaming here recently... honestly, my brain is a total blank on the title. Besides, Philip K. Dick wrote a mountain of stuff, so there's plenty of material to work with...

Hey guys, can we actually dig into this a bit? I feel like I see so many posts just saying "this movie is great" or "this movie sucks," but there's no real substance behind it.

Personally, I thought the movie was pretty decent.
With movies like this, you’re always left wondering how on earth a director is going to take some wild Philip K. Dick concept and turn it into something that actually works on screen. Maybe that's why they love adapting the late Philip K. Dick's work so much—since he isn't around to chime in anymore? In this case, the whole thing about hunting down crimes before they even happen felt totally believable to me, like, it felt genuinely possible.
Honestly, that scene with the doctor alone is worth the price of admission; that eye extraction part was absolutely BRUTAL. Plus, the constant suspense is just top-tier, which is what Steve is so incredibly good at, regardless of what anyone else might think about it.

Look, I’ve had enough of people just declaring a movie "good" or "bad" without actually bothering to explain why.

In my estimation, while the film isn't exactly a masterpiece, it still sits well above the mediocre baseline.

The massive budget and the sheer amount of effort poured into every single second of the runtime are impossible to ignore. The excellent special effects and that specific visual atmosphere—that heavy gray-blue tint—really drive home the mood. Toss in a tight plot and a stellar cast, and you have several strong assets on your side.

It is a monumental piece of cinema, and certainly an engaging watch.

However, if one looks slightly beneath that visually and narratively striking surface, the reliance on tired tropes becomes glaringly obvious. You have the sweeping finale where everything is tied up with a bow, followed by the inevitable disgrace and scandal of the main antagonist, then the villain's turn, and finally that predictable clash between logic and emotion. It’s all standard formulaic filler. There is nothing truly groundbreaking here. In fact, in many scenes, it’s painfully clear how much this film is trying too hard to be "impressive," which ultimately achieves the exact opposite effect.

Honestly, this movie is one of the best things I've seen in a minute. It’s tense, it moves fast, it’s got that brain-bending mystery vibe... plus it actually makes you grapple with some heavy moral stuff, which is rare these days. And man, Tom Cruise is just killer in this—he nails this role perfectly, kind of like how he was in Magnolia.
All that's enough for me to give it a thumbs up👍 and tell everyone to go see it.

It’s not exactly excellent, honestly—I mean, the whole premise was built on the idea that he wasn't actually going to kill the guy, but rather that he was caught up in some kind of "Minority Report" scenario.
But then, out of nowhere... he just goes ahead and kills him. 😳

I honestly thought Titanic was the king of expensive movies at $200 million, but damn, I guess I was wrong. I also figured Waterworld was the one before it at $180 million. (graniteangler10, I'm talking about single films here—the Lord of the Rings trilogy burned through maybe $300 million total, but that's three movies.)

How did they pay the cast? Honestly, I'm not sure, but I have a gut feeling their paychecks were baked right into that production budget.

Anyway, that last Lord of the Rings flick cleared over $300 million, so Peter Jackson actually did pretty well at the box office based on those numbers.
I swear I saw similar numbers for him on some random clickbait site, but I think they mentioned $350 million spent to make $400 million... basically total BS.
