All-time favorites by genre

Alright, dropping another original thread here. Why don't we list our all-time favorite movies by genre (and sub-genre)? Save you guys the headache of deciding... here’s the breakdown:

musical
crime
thriller
horror
dramedy
comedy
action comedy
action film
action Sci-Fi
war film
Sci-Fi drama
drama.
animated ( comedy)
animated ( drama)

Obviously, this setup leaves out a bunch of great flicks that just don't fit into a box, but... whatever. maybe next time.
I'll drop my favorites soon, don't want people thinking I'm rude. 😁

Anyway, if anyone wants different categories, just shout. We're all humans here—we can work it out.

A thriller, without a doubt!

In a different thread, I would list a wider variety of genres, specifically highlighting crime stories, rare animated films, horror, and comedies.

Musicals, westerns, and plain dramas just feel bland to me.

Crime and Thriller
But I'm talking about pure crime and pure thriller, not some mindless garbage like Red Dragon or anything of that caliber 🙄

Alright, someone screwed the pooch. Either I wasn't clear enough or someone just didn't bother reading the rules...
But look, the whole point of this thread is to list your favorite movie for every genre listed. Like, best war film - Saving Private Ryan or best musical - Singin' in the Rain, and so on...

musical - Hair
crime - The Godfather (Part 3)
thriller - grim river horror
horror - The Others (if you can even call it horror)
dramedy
comedy -
action comedy -
action film -
action Sci-Fi -
war film - Black Hawk Down
Sci-Fi drama -
drama - The Shawshank Redemption
animated ( comedy ) - Fritz the Cat
animated ( drama ) -

one of the good - Braveheart, Seven, The Master...

(It's early, my brain isn't really working yet. I'll write them down when I remember.)

And then you have all those space operas, or just your standard Hollywood flicks, and so on... 🙄

musical: Harry - American in Paris
crime: Dirty Harry - Donald Siegel
thriller: Vertigo - Alfred Hitchcock
horror: Psycho - Alfred Hitchcock
dramedy: ?
comedy: entertainment - "The Party" by Blake Edwards
action comedy: ?
action film - attack on police station no. 13. - John Carpenter
action Sci-Fi: Blade Runner - Ridley Scott
war film: Apocalypse Now - Francis Ford Coppola
Sci-Fi drama: 2001: A Space Odyssey - Stanley Kubrick drama
drama: "A Streetcar Named Desire"; "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" - Tennessee Williams
animated (comedy): ?
animated (drama): ?

Alright, here's the deal—this thread is for you guys to list what kind of movies you actually enjoy: war flicks, Sci-Fi, dramas, action, comedies, whatever...
Just drop a few examples, but let's keep it tight—no more than three per category.

Here's my list...
Action: Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible... oh, and Blood Diamond—has a killer cast, mostly Leonardo DiCaprio.
As for comedies? Honestly, I'll watch just about anything.

alright, let's move on

I’m a sucker for commercials. Seriously, I’ve got this massive, killer collection of ads for hybrid SUVs—everything from back in the 1983 harvest season all the way up to right now.

😂
Is this an IBTL situation, or am I going to end up getting my card revoked by Smoggy again just for trolling? 🤔

Ads? Seriously? Where exactly am I supposed to be seeing ads... cccccc... hahah... loooool

Musical - Cabaret
Crime - The Godfather
Thriller - L.A. Confidential
Horror - The Exorcist
Dramedy - I'm not really sure what that is
Comedy - None at all
Action comedy - Bad Boys action film
Action film - The Rock
Action Sci-Fi - Nothing comes to mind right now
War - The Thin Red Line
Sci-Fi drama - This doesn't exist
drama - I don't know what that is
Animated (comedy) - Anything from Pixar animation
Animated (drama) - This doesn't exist

redowl90 said:Dramedy - I have no idea what that means
Sci-Fi drama - this isn't a thing
drama - I don't know what that is
Animated (drama) - this doesn't exist

A dramedy would be something like Life is Beautiful... a Sci-Fi drama would be Blade Runner... drama would be anything European... and half of all animation falls under animated drama.

What do you mean "not a thing"? You absolutely have to watch the masterpiece "Schindler's List".
