I absolutely love that movie, it’s such a masterpiece 👍👍

This movie is pure genius!!!

First off, this isn't really an action movie...
At least, I don't think you should watch it looking for action...
Because if you take a closer look at the cast
And their projects down the road
They're constantly flirting with the blues
So I’d generally categorize this more as a tribute to the blues
It just doesn't make sense to view it through an action lens
The first one is a total classic
But I actually adore The Blues Brothers 2000
Mainly because of that phenomenal rendition of B.B. King's "How Blue Can You Get"
I guess I've always been into that genre of music
But that specific song at the end just blew me away. It's easily ten times better than the original version to me

A legendary film. It’s a tragedy what happened to John Landis. As for a sequel—don't even bother wasting the breath. One of the biggest letdowns in cinema history.

It’s the truth. Watching The Blues Brothers today, you can't help but feel a sense of mourning for what happened to poor Landis. He went from hits like An American Werewolf in New York, Animal House, Wheel of Fortune, and The Blues Brothers straight into an absolute creative void.

It’s just hilarious watching John Belushi get out of prison only for Frank Oz to hand him that used condom... Now you've got Lloyd Landis suing Michael Jackson while they both direct some random TV projects...

The first movie is a classic. The sequel doesn't quite hit the same mark, but it's fine. Honestly, they should have cast John Belushi... he's the younger brother of the late John Belushi, and he had that specific comedic edge, his own blues band, and a real soul for the music... I’d only really highlight Elwood’s motivational speech where he absolutely trashes modern music LOL

It’s definitely not an action flick. That scene with the car smashing felt more like a parody of those big Hollywood action movies... The plot isn't really the point. It’s just pure nonsense, and honestly, the stupider it is, the better... LOL The whole thing focuses on the music and the massive lineup of legends like James Brown, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, and Aretha Franklin...

What kind of action movie are we talking about here? It’s clearly a musical comedy.

I realize I might be biased since most action movies (maybe two or three at most) feel pretty shallow to me, but I truly don't get why this specific one gets so much praise and holds such a massive cult following.

I finally sat down and watched it for the first time today, and I have to agree, it was totally underwhelming with a really dull plot, though maybe the last ten minutes were somewhat watchable if you're desperate, but overall it's just a mediocre flick.

I still remember the first part pretty clearly, but the second half? Totally slipped my mind...

These musical movies are absolute gems. I keep them all in my collection, and whenever I’m in the mood for a good laugh paired with some killer soundtracks, they’re my go-to picks.
There is such an incredible lineup of legendary musicians featured, too. Honestly, we owe a huge thanks to Dan Aykroyd—without him, these classics wouldn't even exist.
P.S. It probably would have been a brilliant move to bring James Belushi on board for a sequel, but they didn't. I'm sure there was some behind-the-scenes reason for that...

Honestly, Landis pretty much laid out exactly why the movie was such a train wreck.

The studio got all hands-on in the process and forced them to play by their rules—think PG rating, no swearing, no nudity, none of that stuff. The first cut was basically an R-rated mess just because of the language, so they had to shoehorn in some mindless filler to tone it down. Plus, Jim Belushi was supposed to be in it, but there was this scheduling conflict... Landis wanted to wait until he was available, but the studio pushed them to start shooting immediately since the release date was already locked in. From what I can gather—Landis, Belushi, and the rest of the crew were legitimately pissed at the management back then, because they basically gutted the whole movie...

I was mostly thinking along the lines of how John Belushi just wasn't much of an actor, though I suppose it would have been a lot more interesting if he’d actually been in it, just because of the sheer chaos factor...
