The last few films I sat through:
-Yojimbo (Kurosawa)... hmm, I honestly don't get why everyone raves about it so much.😕
-Austin Powers (1)😁 😁 😁 I absolutely love that total shit-tier, toilet-humor style of comedy.
-Dark City... it was okay, I guess. An interesting flick, decent acting 🙄
-The Two Towers

I managed to snag a copy of Hero, but the quality is absolute garbage (DVX). Those damn pixels are driving me insane—it’s practically unwatchable.😢

So, I caught that Goddard movie on TV this past Tuesday—one of those specialty channels. What can I say? It’s a solid film. It doesn't exactly burst with tension, but there are some truly brilliant moments... It's a shame they don't air more films from European directors (like Tarkovsky, Malle, and the rest) on US television, but I'll take it when they do.

For anyone interested, next Tuesday they're showing one of the greatest films ever made (at least according to the official rankings)... It's Jean Renoir's "pravilo igra".

Has anyone seen it? What's the verdict? Does it actually deserve to be ranked that high on all those lists?

The last thing I watched was Ice Age. I absolutely love animated features, and this one was just wonderful.

Just finished watching Shanghai Knights.

Everyone has their weakness. Mine happens to be Jackie Chan.

"Rabbit-Proof Fence" directed by Philip Noyce—absolutely gut-wrenching film.
"Truth about Charlie"—I actually ended up tossing the tape out around the 20-minute mark.
"The Last of the Mohicans" by Michael Mann—a total masterpiece.

Jackie Chan is the man.
I’d definitely recommend Shanghai Knights over Shanghai Noon; it's got some solid moments. Though, if you're strictly looking for a laugh, Johnny English is actually funnier.

It was about time... 😁🙂

Anyway, I finally sat down and watched The Brotherhood of Wolves yesterday.
With all the hype people were giving it, I was expecting something way more impactful, but honestly... it didn't really move the needle for me. They clearly put in the work, you can tell, but the overall vibe was just totally mediocre. At least for me...

Saw this in theaters recently: dare Devil
Total trash. Such a waste of money, though the popcorn was good.

Shout out to my neighbors across the border... last week—I think it was Wednesday and Thursday—was a killer stretch. On Wednesday, I watched Abra Los Ojos. It was just... wow. An absolutely incredible film. Honestly, I don't even think I'll touch the American remake; I don't want it messing with how good this one was. I've become pretty skeptical about those Hollywood remakes lately—ever since I saw Nikita. Then on Thursday, I caught Raging Bull. Robert De Niro... man, what can I even say? That guy is a straight-up genius. The movie is masterfully crafted—just pure poetry. 😳

man, Jackie is a god...
Personally, I prefer Shanghai Noon, but that umbrella fight in the London plaza during Shanghai Knights is a masterpiece of choreography...

I watched Primary Colors with Travolta yesterday...
I’d open a factory just to manufacture Travoltas right now, because without those ridiculous noses, they'd be a nightmare to design...
In the movie, he looks about as realistic as how kids in preschool model their dads out of Play-Doh...
Anyway, the film is great (my second viewing)...

Back again.

Just finished watching X-Men for the second time.

Alright, Wolverine is the man. I love the idea of a guy who can basically shred a bow in three moves...
But honestly, I wish I were Famke Jensen. If I were her, I’d just buy a massive mirror, strip down, and spend hours staring at myself...

Too bad, honey, besides the popcorn situation.

Movie theaters make a 600% profit margin on popcorn alone.

People here are saying they might actually shut down because they aren't making enough money, claiming folks have stopped buying the snacks—popcorn, candy, sodas... I mean, a bottle of water is $2.50 here, but in downtown Manhattan you'll pay $4.90 for 24 of those same bottles. That's over 12 times the price. If people stop hitting the concession stands, the whole business model falls apart.

I'm heading off to watch X2 in about half an hour.

And regarding Famke, I totally get you. I don't think there's a single role of hers I haven't heard of. Even in that one with Michael Douglas where she just lies on the bed.
Um, lying on the bed... that's quite something.

Famke Jensen 🙏

Come on, Daniel Perez55, did you even read the thread title?
Why aren't you actually reviewing the movie you're watching???

Anyway, what's the verdict on X2?
Or was the movie so short you're still stuck in the theater?...

I ended up picking up Harry Potter 2 today and went straight back into it, then finally sat down for El Dorado right after. It was definitely about time...
I honestly think the animation is wild, and I actually loved that bonus feature showing how much Val Kilmer and Branagh (and everyone else) were just messing around during the dubbing process. 🙂

There's a dedicated thread just for X2. 😉

If you're big into 70s Kung Fu flicks and stuff like that, check out Kung Pow. And honestly, Shaolin Soccer isn't half bad either. But really, only if that's your kind of thing.

Heh, I actually won a copy of Kung Pow through some radio contest a couple of months back. I still haven't quite forced myself to sit down and watch it yet. 😎 😁
I recently caught To Kill a Mockingbird 👍 👍
and Drop Dead Gorgeous 🙂—there were definitely some solid bits in there, provided you're into that style of movie. 😁

I’ve been scrolling through FilmForum and I haven't seen anyone mention watching "Salton Sea" with Val Kilmer yet. It actually holds a pretty solid 7.2/10 over on IMDb.
Also, "Welcome to Collinwood" is such a wild ride—honestly, there were moments where I felt like I was seeing characters straight out of Alan Ford, so I wonder if I'm being dramatic. There are just a few scenes that feel like they were ripped right out of the comic book.

Watched last night:

Driver - 👎 (though, honestly, I only watched it to kill some time because I was bored)

closet - 👍 (some scenes in that movie were actually 😲 - in a good way, obviously)
